Arthur

Is it just height and strength you mean when talking about 'physical'?
Because Xavi was a machine, usually the player with most ground covered. Worked hard in offense and defence and wasn't afraid to make a tackle.

We talk about current Busi, Raki and Arthur being cones in defence, but Xavi never had that reputation.

Physical for me includes using your body the best you can in duels, and not being afraid of contact. Kante, Xavi, prime Busi, Alves I'd all consider being quite physical despite not having Haaland or Yaya body type.

Physical is for me a sum of height, strength, stamina (and some aerial strength).

For example, I will rate some of our former players how I would rate them on my physical scale from 1 to 10

10 Davids
9 Van Bommel
9 Motta
9 Edmilson
8 Vidal
8 Paulinho
7 Rakitic
7 Frenkie
5 Xavi
5 Deco
5 Andre Gomes
3 Alena
3 Arthur
2 Iniesta
2 Busquets
1 Riki
1 Denis

For example, Busi is tall, but too thin, weak and soft.
Davids was short, but he was a pitbull.

I don't look at pace when I talk about physique.
I dislike weak players who can't jump, tackle, who get bullied easily and who are good only at possession.
Those players can win only in a perfect team where all teammates are 150% better than the opponents (technique wise).
Yet, even then, any away CL KO match is a disaster waiting to happen.

About Xavi, he is not my type of a physical guy but he is not a pushover either and he was stronger than Busi, Iniesta, Arthur and Riki.

I've lost faith in him. Was hoping he was gonna develop his game, but he just seems like he doesn't have any ambition to get better. He's just happy to stay in his safe zone of 95+% pass success rate, without adding cutting edge in the last 3rd. If anything he's regressed compared with his firs 1.5 seasons at Barca.

He's gonna be good enough for a squad role at a big club, but not starter material at this rate.

Everyone agrees that Arthur has not shown vision in his passing, even I who defended him a lot here.

But the most fierce Arthur critics here just hate him (for whatever reason), and then go on to justify that hate by beating to death his lack of vision and holding him to standards (prime Xavi vision) they do not hold other players.
Who has the vision you are requesting from Arthur from current City squad let's say? Only KDB?
But still you would never say that for Frenkie or Pedri or even for Raki/Vidal if we look at the last couple of years.
That treatment is only saved for Arthur.

Who is hating on Arthur by claiming he should be prime Xavi?

Seems a bit of a backwards claim that when in fact folk are responding to that one bobo poster who is claiming Arthur the more incisive passer who takes more risks.

Check the last 100 pages of this thread and I am sure you will not see much more than hate.
By the way, you are one of the instigators by doing exactly what I described above: beating to death Arthur's lack of vision

He had the potential to be a good midfielder for a top club IF he worked hard on his stamina and forward passing.

As it stands, he's a bum. Same as Rabiot.

No you are commenting on folk who are responding to a ludicrous claim that Arthur takes more risk with passing than Xavi and others where Arthur has been compared to him for other reasons.

It is not some random attack on Arthur with Xavi brought into conversation for no reason when isnt for others.

Yeah I will 'beat to death' how poor going forward Arthur is on ball when see fit. Used to do it when likes of you disagreed and will still do it if folk make ridiculous comparisons to Xavi....but not for no reason as your strawman and backwards argument made out.

Are you trying to take the role of Messigician on this forum? We got an older player who has double the wages of Arthur. Add to it that we will most likely get peanuts for Pjanic if we sell him , while Juve can sill sell Arthur for 18-30M. Juve fleeced us.

For all the complaining you did over the last years about certain players not beeing tall enough , your 10 is a 1.69 guy.

Also , give some respect to Don Iniesta. For his height and weight , he bullied a ton of people taller and heavier than him.

yesterday i had like 3 forum members tell me that actually Pjanic was a GREAT financial deal because it balanced our books. so take it up with them. i really dont know the financial numbers involved in the transaction.

im not saying we made a great deal or anything, im simply saying i am glad that arthur is no longer our problem and that pjanic wont be here after next season. thats all

I was one of them. The deal was to balance the books , nothing to do with it being a great financial deal.

And who says Pjanic won't be here next season ? The last of performance of Pjanic was already like a retired one. Can easily run out his contract while comfortably sitting on those wages

Reading Juve fans comments on him, it is actually a remanence of what Barca fans discussions.
From people thinking he was one of the top 2 performers last night, and subbing him out was the reason they lost, to others who said he is the worst players, and unsellable.

There hype isn't as big as Barca fans though, due to lack of Xavi to compare to.

okay, if you were one of them, and you claimed that the deal balanced our books, then why scream about juve fleecing us? isnt that self contradictory?

you're making it seem like i am defending pjanic or that i like him. i dont. i think both him and arthur suck. my point is simply that, all things being equal, arhur is a longer term problem due to his age, so that i am glad he is gone; and that pjanic, because he is older, likely will leave sooner than later. i could be wrong, of course, but my point is not, in principle, dubious. or do you think it is?
