He was a magnitude above old useless Rakitic at that time, especially for press resistance and ball circulation purposes as said above. Remember one of the goals was direct Rakitic fault, where he couldn't resist press, started panicking and gave the ball away, after which goal was scored immediately. He was like that the whole match. Panicking and shutting himself in the corner of the pitch as he couldn't cope with slightest pressure, just liker Busi. Arthur didn't have much going for him, but the one pony trick he had would hav saved Barca from humuiliation in that game. Valverde was total dumbfuck for fielding old geezers, who fold after slightest pressure. They were already exposed at Camp Nou. The score was too charitable in that game thanks to Messi.

If Xavi, Iniesta played and still got destroy by Bayern in 2013, i don' know how you can claim Arthur can destroy Liverpool

Why didn't he destroy Villareal last season though?

All you need to read is Klopp's comments today about the need to control tempo and retain possession in games in response to Arthur questions.

As for the rest, LOL
You think that the best transfer department in the world does panic buys because any agent contacts them? Really?

It was a calculated move for specific needs (clearly not to be a starter) which will be evaluated again in the summer, and the buy option will be triggered or NOT triggered based on his performances.

Anything else is the usual hate speech against the player, speech which already received a huge L after this transfer

Liverpool simply didn't expect too many injuries in early season. If they want Arthur so bad why not make the move earlier??? Arthur was on his way to Valencia but too fat and get injured.

Juventus want to get rid of him. He is nothing more than garbage to them.

Perharps Klopp can do something but i highly doubt it.

Wait, are you guys actually being serious?

Arthur is a bum, he would have done nothing against Liverpool.

We couldn't hold on the ball at all in midfield, for all his faults his best attribute is maintaining possession. Having him on for 60 minutes would of been much better as would of allowed us to hold on the ball much longer.
Having said that it wasn't just that though it was the fact they could press us without issue because we had 3 non pressing turtles upfront who offered absolutely no threat on the counter so that allowed teams to compress the field when we were in possession. Then you throw in an overused and tired Rakitic (who was terrible under pressuse regardless), a sloth and a past it player and the result is the anfield game. The funniest part is they could of easily scored more....

There was a period of time people held it against Valverde for not bringing him on.
I still hold it against him, but for more than just Arthur. It's much more nuanced then Arthur is trash so Valverde was right. Not surprised which posters are making those types of remarks.

Add dembele instead of Cou and we are standing in the final ! but cant blame EV dembele was very inconsistent to that time, who could have known coutinho will be absolutely crap

We were destroyed in Anfield, so everything the coach is done is wrong and everything he didn't was the right thing.

We can't deny it, just like they can't really prove it

Clean sheet at home, 3 gosl lead and needed 1 away goal to kill the tie

Benching a 165m player?

Damn straight. If he had balls he'd make the right decision regardless of price tag. Countiho was never even remotely worth the 160m we paid for him, had a purple patch for a year in a mediocre Liverpool team and then we had dumb fuck fans and an even dumber president thinking he was something that he wasn't and in turn ended up financing their resurgence.

You're welcome

Was on the players. If it were 1 or 2 players that were abysmal I’d say you have a point with Valverde not taking them out. But the list was long.

I loved the moment when you saw Arthur's face and 4-1 score in the background and then Klopp drinking water like beer.

Arthur ain't going to fix this midfield, if that was the idea.
