Isn't Alex Sandro better than Filipe Luis anyway?
This season? from what Juve fans say, he hasn't been anywhere as good as he was last season.

Luis and Marcelo are two totally different style of LB's but Luis even at his age is still reliable and better than Sandro defensively.

Rakitic’s kryptonite. Mark my words.

Will take him less than 10 games to bench Rakitic too.

Fantastic player in all three phases... Defensive, attacking and holding. When he is on the ball you can drink your beer in peace because you know he is not going to give it up. His most valuable asset, in my opinion, is his ability to turn into pressure as well as away from it while still keeping possession.

That's an... Odd analogy.

Anyhow, I won't pretend to be an expert on a kid with a season or two of professional football under his belt in a club like Gremio, but from what little I've seen, his profile looks like exactly what we need.

I use the analogy because he will bench Rakitic in short order and we’ll be left wondering how we won 3 of 4 Liga’s with him as a starter.

I watch all his games, my cousin downloads them for me, and he is so promising while still not being a finished product. I hope the board don’t screw up this transfer.

I think he meant he is the opposite of a workhorse player.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I just don't see any reason why the two of them shouldn't be able to coexist in the squad.

Don't know about that, but it seem like the club is getting serious about renewing this squad so Rakitic and Paulinho might have two seasons at the most left before the club decide to cash in.

Arthur needs to be the next big thing in order to bench Rakitić.

I strongly hope he is but would probably be willing to bet my house that it just won't happen. It's that unlikely.

Rakitic and Arthur can coexist, heck you can play Arthur in Busi's spot and there won't really be any issues.

Rakitic I feel like he lost some sort of mobility compared to his 14/15-15-16 seasons to be effective in a 4-3-3 though. He had his limitations but he imo was better defensively and covering ground a couple of seasons back compared to now though.

To be fair to Rakitic he had to cover for Messi and Alves for two straight seasons and he played a lot so he has a lot of mileage in those legs.

wouldn't be the first time he's said something crazy in the forum

Rakitic is an extremely limited player that basically only excels in the defensive phase. He is atrocious under pressure and can’t set tempo when in possession.

He’s excelled this year because Valverde basically set the team up around him and Suárez after the Dembélé injury. Prior to that he was irritating Messi to no end due to his lack of tempo and inability to move the ball forward. He’s been feeding off Busquets all season and it’s gone unnoticed by his fans. Look at the recent 4-3-3 games... He shat the bed against Depor as RCM and was left out of the squad against Villarreal in favour of Paulinho but subbed in as a DM for Busquets. Even the coach sees that he is DM and not the ball carrier linking defense and attack.

Also, instead of making such inane comments, why don’t you put down the reasons Rakitic is so good in your opinion? So a decent debate can ensue...

Busquets has enough defensive and playmaking capabilities to play on his own as a DM with 2 CM’s either side of him. Rakitic and Arthur will only coexist in a double pivot.
