Arturo Vidal

Should be a starter. We have control with De Jong and Arthur, so Vidal has the freedom to go back and forth and do his box to box aggressive style well.

This guy is great as a substitution player. When team starts being tired and lacks aggressivity, he’s the perfect guy.
Now make him a starter and he’ll be just another useless veteran with more fighting spirit but less skills.

Busquets, Vidal, Rakitic... The reality is that they’re all done probably and we need new blood. I believe Alena could do well in the role played by Vidal today. Alena works hard, he’s a workhorse, he isn’t as strong physically as Vidal but he’s more skilled. I say a FDJ-Arthur-Alena needs to be tested, with Vidal replacing Alena in the second half.

I am fine with Vidal staying as a back up. He is done as a starter.

Agree on Vidal. He is good for the sub-role.
I am a big fan of Alena, but honestly I am not sure anymore he is gonna make it here. At least not soon enough.
We are building midfield around Arthur & FDJ, which is good. Has the potential to be the world class midfield in the near future, but we might need to get the 3rd player to compliment them from the market.

To be honest, I have big doubts about Alena’s future here too. His progression has been fucked up by the club over the last 2-3 years. But since the transfer market is closed, I believe we should try Alena right now and if he fails, we go and buy a CAM asap.

I think Alena couldn’t be that much worse than those 32-33 years old finished veterans.

He is perfect for CL especially as a game changing sub. I'm actually surprised Shitverde brought him on.

Physically he's still a beast. Great player.

A player like Kante would be perfect here.

Griezmann, Arthur and De Jong would also be a great midfield.

Another one who doesn't get to play at all and then pulled back in desperation.

Happy for him and hope he plays more instead of Busquets.

In Finnish broadcast one of the ex-players mentioned they played with Vidal in Leverkusen. I was surprised when he said he wasn't much of a hard worker in practise but when the game came, he was a beast, the hardest worker and very mentally tough.

How can you run like Vidal without hard exercise? Maybe he changed through the years.
