Arturo Vidal

What worries me more than anything is the demand from EV for Vidal. Not a proven world class CM which has been the big question mark on this team for years now, but rather a Paulinho replacement. As if that was ever so central to our success that we can go several years without signing a world class CM but surviving for even one preseason without a Paulinho archetype is too much for Valverde.

What does this mean for Arthur? What does it mean for Dembele/Malcom? Our formation and starting lineup has already been a clusterfuck uncertainty with EV and now it's starting to look like he's dead set on doing the EXACT same thing as last year with his bully-ball 4-4-2 with Vidal at RM and Rakitic still in the middle (or switched).

A short term, experienced signing does make sense given the amount of promising young players we have in addition to FDJ who will more than likely be signed within the next year.

I hope the contract is something like 2 year + 1 optional.

There is no way he’ll come for les than 3 years and a big salary. And how will we now incorporate De Jong next summer with fucking Vidal here for the next 2 or 3 years?

Market or no market, Vidal is SO not in any shape or form near good enough for us. Paulinho is Ronaldinho's flair and Viera's strength combined compared to Arturo MS-13 Vidal.

Vidal will be pure shit by then. Hell, Vidal might be totally done in the upcoming season, we can never know at that age with that style of play.

Sign him for 15m and put him on the bench. I'm okay with that. Then flog him off to China next year and get Pogba.

Everyone except a few people gets happy?

-EV pissed The Chinese Dragon was sold
-Demanded a player of his profile
-EV gets his wish, the club pocket 20m

The club pocket 10 since Paulinho was signed for 40...and they have just spent those 10 and additional 20 for an alcoholic.

Yeah I agree. There's not enough quality and definite starters, just a mish mash of players what could be used in a 4-4-2 or maybe 4-3-3. This transfer window we just needed to bit the bullet and get a "big signing" CM who would be a definite starter.

Exactly. We are struggling to sell him for even 9+1m and some folks think 30m for A. Vidal is a good deal.

A great deal for Bayern indeed. The stingy Bavarians surely know how to do business.

Alex is a mediocre eternal benchwarmer who can't play for any top team.
Arturo won 2 Copa americas and played for biggest clubs in the world.

It is like comparing a price for Suarez and Paco/Munir.

Lol Valverde rated Paulinho highly because he scored some tap ins at the beginning of the season. He doesn't even seem to realize that he didn't have the technical ability to be a Barca midfielder.
