Arturo Vidal

We need a younger squad but at least we've started to address that this summer so one older player is okay and Vidal will shake the midfield up a bit.

The midfield is looking a lot better.

It's just Suarez as the weak link if he stinks the attack out again and jury still out on Dembele.

Valverde needs to go along with Segura and Vidal next summer, if Vidal coming really is his personal wish. And with them hopefully goes this need for these 30+year old physical midfielders, who bring nothing to the team for more than one season maybe. This is only a good deal, if Vidal leaves by next summer when Frenkie De Jong hopefully arrives. A one year loan would be totally sufficient. But we all know a gift of 30M to Bayern and at least a 4-year big fat contract for Arturo is coming...and can't wait for Valverde to stick to his boring 4-4-2 and play Coutinho-Busquets-Vidal-Rakitic midfield every game, while Dembele and now Malcom too both rot on the bench, not to mention Arthur, Rafinha, Denis and Alena.

We just got rid of Paulinho, which i didn't think we were gonna be able to do for like at least 2-3 more years, and even made a profit with his sale by some miracle, now here we go again...

They did.
But not all players age equally.
If 31 is a dead zone, should we sell Messi this summer?
Why Messi can play and Arturo can't?
Also, Busi, Raki, Suarez will be sold next year.

Vidal is really physical though, 31 is usually an age where most players are in steep decline. Iniesta certainly was, and Iniesta wasnt physical. Schweinsteiger was offloaded at that age as well. Suarez has not been in a steep decline for more than a year now? I think its pretty obvious by the Suarez has been playing. He's 31 as well, but his decline started earlier. There are some exceptions here and there but we honestly cant expect to get more than a year out of Vidal so that 30m should be seen as part of wage costs for that year unless we strike gold and are able to get money for him from China, which isnt as certain as some try to make it out.

So, if both Wague and Vidal are bought, we will have:
1. Busi
2. Raki
3. Coutinho
4. Arthur
5. Roberto
6. Vidal
7. Rafinha (if not sold)
8. Denis (if not sold)
9. Gomes (if not sold)
10. Alena (+ Oriol and Puig)
11. Samper (if not sold)

That's 11 central midfielders. For 3-4 positions only, depending on what EV will use. Even if we get rid of the deadweight (Denis, Gomes, Samper), there are still too many. It will be surprising if Alena manages to play more than 3-4 games. We also have two pure wingers in Dembele and Malcom.

If he was the player from Juve he would cost over 80m. About the same as Pjanic does now.

No shit. But some of the users here think we are getting the Juve Vidal. We aren't. We're getting an old, injury-prone, supposed "workhorse" who doesn't care anymore.

Arda 2.0 in the making. Calling it right now.

To be fair Bayern fans rate him highly.

We have too many young midfielders that the club rate highly: Arthur, Alena, FDJ (who will obviously come soon) and in the b-team there is Oriol and Puig.

I understand getting older, short term and experienced midfield signing.

Not sure Vidal would have been my first choice, but I can understand why they would want this type of signing.

Why will he be hardly used?

Ev wants 3 or 4 cms in 442
Busi
Cou
Raki first 3 picks

4th Vidal
5th Arthur

So, Vidal is either a starter or a first Cm sub for every match.
Without injuries that means 20-40 appearances.

Not exactly a player who we will rarely use.

He'll have to stay injury free for that to happen though.

This is such a fucking typical Valverde shit move. When we sold off Paulinho, (almost) every single culé in the world exhaled a sigh of relief - Paulinho proved to be better than expected, but bringing him in also proved that he was nowhere near a fit for our style of play.
Valverde is a spineless piece of shit to bring in another old, immobile grinder for our team, simply because he lacks the foresight and fucking balls to play Barca ball; this deal (and his request of this deal) just confirms his small club mentality and his one-trick pony of a tactic book.

Finally we are making the right moves on the transfer market and building a team that looks exciting with a clear identity that is in sync with the Barca Way, no sooner than this asshole decides to cover his bullshit, plan B, no cojones style of play agenda.

Vidal is an old has-been and we keep bringing in dinosaurs as if this club is the freaking Retirement Home for used-to-be decent footballers. Fuck you, Valverde.
