Ballon d'Or 2024

Their reasoning is correct.

If you judge it based on individual ability, it's Vinicius. If you judge it by team results, it's Carvajal.

Rodri probably ranks 2 in all criteria but fair play stuff most likely.

But they supposedly judge on both, that's how Messi won in 2021 and 2023

Plus, the 3rd criterion: being fair and classy on the field, which Vini fails every day of the week

What's a joke? What I said?

I don't see why. Surely the award should simply go to who performed the best, regardless of team titles etc?

Rodri is far more important for City and Spain than Carvajal is for Real and Spain.

No, the joke part is about Madrid rumors that they might show up after all.

I see Vinicius as better individually last season than Rodri. Madrid simply said Carvajal should win it if team results are most important as he won the most titles. If you switch it to individual performances, something I agree with, it should be Vinicius. No matter how punch-able his face is.

Rodri didn't do enough. People focus only on City dominating Madrid in the return leg, but on Bernabeu, they conceded 3 goals and loads of chances. That's also a big part of the reason they got sent home. They didn't really control that game.

Vinicius probably was the best player in terms of footballing quality last season, but the guy is such a massive cunt. Ronaldo, Neymar and Suarez were cunts in their own time, but this guy is a special kind of cunt.

Fair enough.

Like said, I don't agree much with individual awards in team sports.

I think Rodri was better than Vini last season, but you think otherwise. I feel both opinions are fair, so agree to disagree. But Carvajal's name being thrown with Rodri's is a disaster. It's all about trophies that because he clearly doesn't have the performances or impact (generally) Rodri does.

Will Ronaldo make it to the 98 World Cup final!??

Will Vini make it to the Balon Dor!?

Will JamDav make it to Barcaforum before Frenkie gets injured!?

The drama only football can give.

Even on the trophy part they are pretty close. CL vs Euro basically, with Vincius having more impact in CL than Rodri in Euros.

I meant Carvajal but yeah I get your point. Surely Vini being mediocre for Brazil should have a say too.

Bonus part is that Mbappe will lose it if Vinicius wins. It's gonna be Hollywood inside Madrid's locker-room.

This award if given to rodri is largely to make up for never giving one to Xavi or Iniesta in there prime.

History will remember modric winning one, but never those two, insanity.

With respect to modric.
