Barca draws Atletico de Madrid in CL quarters!

Super excited by this. If there's any team in the world who could handle playing the best teams it's this one. I say we go ahead and win the treble and make history.

Agreed.

We have a full rested and healthy squad and our lead in Liga means we can afford to drop a few points in the Villareal/Sociedad/Madrid league games (not all of them but dropping 2-4 points isn't going to be the end of the world).

Like I said in the UCL thread, if we make it past this series of games while advancing to the semis and maintaining a good gap in liga, the rest of the CL teams should be very worried.

Yea, I agree. Clasico is clasico, but with this draw, the game vs Atletico at Camp Nou is the biggest game of the season so far, period. We should see that game as the most important for the next period. I'm almost certain that if we go on Calderon with a 2 goal lead (or 1-0 win on Camp Nou) we'll go through. It's very impotant to be in front in the tie when we play the away game.

I'm quite confident we'll go through. I think we have insane firepower, and I think Atletico doesn't have enough attacking threat to put us in big trouble if we are 100% connected to this game (and with this draw, the positive is that we probably won't see complacency vs a strong opponent).

I also don't think that with 3 guys that score goals after goals it is possible to repeat Chelsea 2012. We basically have 3 strikers as our front trio. Eventually the goals will come, and even a 1-0 win at home is enough to be in front in the tie. At 1-0, we just have to score 1 goal on Calderon and Atletico has to score 3. We can't expect us to win the treble and be overly worried at the thought of facing Atletico, since it's pretty much clear from La Liga that we are supperior to them.

We just have to make sure we don't go 0-1 at home against them. If we score first, our chances improve drastically. If Atletico parks the bus at Camp Nou, I don't want to see them score from 35m like they did in 2014. But I trust that Stegen won't get beaten from anything else than a clear goalscoring opportunity. And it's our job to make sure Atletico doesn't have that on Camp Nou. I just hope Atletico won't find themselves 1-0 up from a half-chance. They can be very opportunistic. But they can't outplay us. So, at the end of the day, this tie is about one thing: us making sure our domination is not only on the field, but on the scorecard as well.

I just had an argument with a madridista saying he is sure that they will end our unbeaten run like our clean sheet run last season, cause we're overconfident.
Bring it on.

Yea, this is nothing like 2012. Teams are fucking terrified of playing us now, absolutely no body even known arrogant Bayern fans don't want to see that shit.

I don't get the negativity, yes Wolfsburg, Benfica and City would have been easier but it could also have been worse, at least its not Bayern in the QF. We have a 6 game winning streak against them.

I'm in the minority, but I wanted us to draw Bayern, especially after seeing them being drawn first (first game in Germany).

I agree, but that streak means nothing. This is a new tie, which can lead to different results. IIRC Atletico was also on a winning streak vs Real Madrid last season, and they were eliminated.

It's up to us to make sure this streak goes on. But if we are not at our best (or close to), this tie may go Atletico's way very very fast.

Well, Rm gets the easy pick, we get the hard one, as per usual :)
I'm pissed because atletico is one of the safest bets to knock RM out so, of course, they got to go

That and the fact that their defensive record is basically twice as good as anyone else's.

On the other side, I don't think we will win UCL this season, i believe in that no one wins it twice in a row thing, and I would focus on winning La liga, UCL should be a bonus

Because the fixture list is awful, I'd rather have any other team than the physical Atletico in between the Real Madrid and Sociedad games.
Imagine getting Wolfsburg and being able to rest the players at the away game, guaranteed to advance in the CL and to give Real a proper spanking at home.Could have wrapped up the League and CL progress.

La Liga is almost won. We can draw 4/9 games remaining and still win the title. It's almost done. The dream is winning the CL. We will La Liga is such a clear fashion that going out from CL would be a big disappointment even if we make the domestic double. Both a blessing and a curse for the fans sort of.

Not sure if Bayern would have been worse, with their high line and Benatia and Kimich at the back we might had the same fun as last year. Atletico, on the other hand, will park the bus and if they manage not to get themselves sent off, they are very capable of grinding out 1-1 draw Camp Nou and then 0-0 draw at Calderon.
