Barto is the favorite Imo. Laporta still haven't made any strong impact yet. He sounds a little confused too. Still there is time we will see.

Of course he took it under pressure. And of course no one could've seen the treble incoming.

But by calling the early elections he essentially cut the preparation time for other contenders in half. Gathering the right people, the finances and creating a good election program takes time.

This is not meant as an excuse for the poor showing of Laporta and (to a lesser extent) Benedito so far. But Barto had much more to lose if he decided to drag the saga out into 2016.

edit:

from January

There has been plenty of time for anyone wanting to run to organise their election campaign.

There is nothing that they could not have done by now due to time.

Election campaigns are never going to be months and months long. Even when Laporta won first time round he only won it in last few weeks when people agreed with his message so there is plenty of time.

Its a lame excuse for anyone that doesnt win.

You think the elections are Bartomeu's to lose?

As of now, I'd say yes.

For the last six months, Bartomeu has been ironing out the bad PR left by Rosell's various decisions. During the same time, the team managed an outstanding feature and earned a second treble.

His only contender with good media backing is Laporta, whose campaign so far has been built on cheap populism (similar to Rosell 2010). Farre and Benedito both have interesting ideas, but do not have enough popularity to actually rise to the top. If anything, they're gonna steal some anti-Bartomeu votes from Laporta.

@JamDav: I just explicitely wrote that I do NOT mean this as an excuse for anybody. But I disagree with the notion to discount the short build-up time as a factor

His impact will come when he announces that he signed Pogba a week before the elections.. imo, I think it's done and Laporta is just waiting it out.

A man who might go to jail is a favorite to win the elections, don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Really? Don't think so. Pogba signing will be done by management committee and will wait the final approval of the new pres if at all he is signed. The fact that braida is in constant contact with juve proves that, do you hear anything about abidal doing that? When every one wants pogba it is hardly the winning chip for laporta. He needs something solid.

¡Gr?*cies Xavi!
On the courtesy of navidjaan, here's some quotes from Laporta:

Laporta: "Marca poll? In 2003, polls gave me 0%. There are 24% in that poll who didn't decide yet."
Laporta: "The campaigns should be based on models and projects. The games lead to nowhere."
Laporta: "If I can compete with the Treble? The Treble is ours, too."
Laporta: "Abidal knows the system, transmits good values and is able to negotiate. In March I decided that he'd join me if I ran for pres."
Laporta: "Bartomeu vs Laporta? Two different models. The socis must choose between Qatar and UNICEF."
Laporta: "Deulofeu? The interim board must explain themselves, because they are stretching their duties."
Laporta: "Albertini was at the Italian FA and I think he could be very useful to restore relations with UEFA and FIFA."
Laporta: "I do not believe that Qatar was the only option as a shirt sponsor. Them not explaining the contract will create suspicion."
Laporta: "Uzbekistan and Qatar have nothing to do with each other. One was a specific contract and the other binds the parties for years."
Laporta: "Abidal has a very good relationship with Pogba. We are following our opportunity to get him."
Laporta: "It took us five years to make the Foster project. Rosell said he could do better but he couldn't."
Laporta: "We respect the socis decision and we'll talk with major Ada Colau about it. Then we'll evaluate the situation."
Laporta: "I spoke with Johan [Cruyff] about Abidal and he thought it was a good idea. They talked with each other recently."
Laporta: "Luis Enrique has rediscovered the style that had been lost under Tata."
Laporta: "It is only right that Luis Enrique should continue. He has done very well. He has made the players work."
Laporta: "I'd like to play under Luis Enrique."
Laporta: "It would be ideal if Guardiola finished as president of Barça. He can come back whenever he wants."
Laporta: "Getting Pogba is a very good idea. He has matured a lot, physically powerful and his technique is indisputable."
Laporta: "PSG, Madrid and City also want Pogba. He would be a good addition for Barça. He is not an electoral weapon."
Laporta: "Pogba is a player with power and extraordinary quality. He has the Barça profile. Abidal will be key."
Laporta: "Another key in the signing of Pogba will be Mino Raiola, and I have got a good enough relationship with him for us to do well."
Laporta: "Barça holding talks with Juve? I don't know if they're doing that or going sightseeing in Turin. They won't talk until the 19th."
Laporta: "I don't know if Braida works for Barça or Bartomeu. Going to Turin is an electoral act. They won't talk until the 19th."
Laporta: "We know that Juventus will not agree and conclude anything with anyone regarding Pogba until July 19th."
Laporta: "I don't believe anything that Bartomeu says. Always tells half truths, like in the Neymar case."
Laporta: "Regarding sponsors, I hope to see many of them on the market."
Laporta: "Rosell and Bartomeu are led by an environment of people who understand the club as how it was before 2003."
Laporta: "Bartomeu is a puppet. Mr. Rosell is directing the things."
Laporta: "I don't manage the club through resentment as others have done. We will look forward."
Laporta: "Bartomeu? Inseparable with Rosell. Benedito? Newbie. Majo? Newbie. Farré? Willful. Freixa? Changing."
Laporta: "If I win, I will implement electronic voting. The smoking ban will remain."

so much

Dissing other candidates as newbies and whatnot (some in their 50s and running for 2nd or 3rd time) from his pedestal. And he wasn't a newbie in 2003?

I could dissect other qoutes too but what's the use.
Laporta lost touch with reality

I seriously hope this is Marca BS.

If Bartomeu really wins I fear for the worst for our great club.

Laporta wants socis worldwide to own the club, Barto will sell it to a terrorist state.

I know Laporta is not perfect, but he's the only alternative to Rosell/Bartomeu. Sadly a really "new" face like Benedito has zero chances of winning.

Benedito is all but a new face. Guy has been around for almost two decades.

"PSG, Madrid and City also want Pogba. He would be a good addition for Barça. He is not an electoral weapon." And then continues to saying how only he as a president can bring Pogba to Barcelona because of Abidal and his good relations with Raiola.

Honestly, at this point I don't really care who wins, it's either going to be Bartomeu or Laporta and that's like choosing between Ebola and Cancer.

I swear if Bartomeu wins the election.... I'll go on a riot.

He should do the decent thing and step down. He's one of the reasons why we have the transfer ban. I honestly couldn't put up with another 4 years with that idiot in charge.
