In all fairness, Milito did play pretty well in CA. If he can stay healthy and keep playing on same level he will usefull for another season. Let's face it, he would be our 5th choice as CB. And that's not counting Masch and Busi. Puyi-Pique-Abi -trio will play some 80% of games in that position and behind them we have Fontas and Gabi. I hope no one leaves from our defence and then we should be fine with what we already have.

I understand the maximum number of non-EU passport players allowed is two? Is this a UEFA rule or La Liga?
Since Alexis is non-EU, that means either Maxwell or Milito have to leave before the start of the season. If there is no sale, that would leave loan or release as the only options.

Milito has Spanish passport I think.
Maxwell might get it some time. He still is non - EU though
Even if Alexis is non EU we will be having only 2 of them

Sorry, I had the wrong South American. Maxwell and Adriano are listed in Wikipedia as non-EU.

Adriano has a spanish passport. The only non-EU players we currently have are Maxwell and Sanchez.

So the squad could be like this:

..............................Valdes/Andrada

Dani/Montoya Pique/Puyol Abi/Fontas Alvaro Pereira/Adriano

...............................Busq/Masch
................Xavi/Cesc....................Iniesta/Thiago

Pedro/Affe...............Messi/Soriano.................Alexis/Rossi

next summer (2012):
replace Puyol?? with Thiago Silva or David Luiz
Choose 1 between Fontas Botia Batra
Check if Soriano is good enough
Have a look at Oriol/Bojan
2013/2014/2015:
..... just save the money and promote some La Masia talents

I just had a good lol -__-

Haha, this.

First of all, Andrada's staying in Argentina as far as I know. Second, we'll never spend on Pereira, Rossi and Cesc while letting Villa and Keita leave.

That's just absurd to even suggest such a thing.

Zubizarreta pretty much spelled out the composition of this year's team today.

The team is open to Milito leaving. No other departures were mentioned.

Soriano is guaranteed a Barca B contract.

Two Barca B players now at the Mundial Sub-20 will do what Thiago and Fontas did last year, frequently join the main squad. My bet: Bartra and Romeu.

Just Cesc and Milito are in doubt.

I was thinking about it, and I really like what we have done so far. Looking at last years bench:
CDM- Mascherano-New player, came of the bench at first but forced into a starting role because of injuries. Forced to play CB for really the first time and did so quite well, notably saving our asses against Arsenal with that tackle on Bentender, and playing great at CB against Man U in a CL FINAL
LWB/RWB Adriano-New player, a bit inconsistent at the start, but really found a home at LB before his injury. Better on the left but could still play on the right
CF Bojan- No confidence, scored a few goals but pretty useless
CDM Keita- Usual reliable, dependable Keita. Not very creative, but hard working, good defensively, patient, and scored a few goals here in there including the league winner.
LB Maxwell-Usual inconsistent self
LW/RW Affelay- Signed in January, thrown right to the mix but although he played AM for PSV, limited to being a winger on either side until he got more adapted to Barca's system. Showed signs of having great pace, good skill. Needed to make better descisions, but for a guy who had been at Barca for 4 months it was to be expected. And showed an ability to come on as a late game sub and have a positive effect on the game. Broke open the CL semi-final with the low cross Messi that allowed him to score.
CB Milito- Aging, injured, useless
LW/RW Jeffrén-Injured, useless
AM/CM Thiago- Young gem. Showed great promise, and enthusiasm. A bit inconsistent. Earned a very deserved promotion.
CB Fontas- Looked very good when he first came up, became inconsistent but still earned the promotion

So basically, last season, we had no back up creative mid except a B teamer up for an extended period of time for the first time. Our best option at forward off the bench was a guy who'd been transferred in January because Bojan was useless. And was forced to test a guy who'd never really played CB there, because of injuries. If you look now, we're in a much better situation:

2011-12

LW/RW/CF Alexis Sanchez- New Player. 22 years old, best football is ahead of him. Fits Barca to a T. No language barrier. Great work rate. Great in the 1-on-1. Great pace/agility. Great ball control. Can play all three positions up front. I could go on and on.
CDM/CB Masch- Season 2 at Barca. More versatile. We now know he has the ability to play big games HUGE games for us and play great at CDM and CB. Great defense, game saving tackles, humility. You name it.
LWB/RWB Adriano- Also season 2 at Barca. Should be even better/more consistent this season. I feel like Abidal will need more rest this year, and he can still back up Alves
AM/CM Thiago-What to say, what to say. World class talent. Opened eyes at the U-21 around the world by absolutely bossing the midfield. Got his extension. Has been the best player this preseason. We knew he could run a midfield, now he scores goals at an alarming rate also. Primed to break out, the sky's the limit.
LW/RW/AM Affelay- Looked great during the pre-season before he was hurt. Looks as though he might have adapted enough to play a bit of AM this year. Potential to be a supersub.
CDM Keita- What more can I say? Keita's gonna be Keita.
CB Fontas- Actual CB who's not old/hurt this year. Has looked good this preseason. Doesn't have as much talent as some of the other CB's in La Masia, but he could become a good player.
LWB Maxwell- Probably could be sold, but I think maybe we should keep him around
CB Milito- Should be sold
Dos Santos/Montoya/Bartra/Roberto/Femenia- Look for them to take on the Thiago/Fontas roles of last year. More talented youngsters :)

And we still have the chance of getting Cesc. We're in a much better place than last year on the bench right now.

Well put... Only, with Masch better integrated this season we can play Busi higher up the pitch like in 08-09 season.
