There are rumours Rodriguez has already signed with Milan. I also don't believe we are really after LB.


I was thinking about CB situation yesterday. If we'll keep Marlon in first team next season and Masche will also stay that most likely means we won't go after D.Sanchez/Lemos or some of the other (especially French) CBs linked to us. I'd like to get either of them but if rumours about Chelsea offering 40M for Davinson are true I just don't think we'll pay that much. I also wouldn't pay more than 20M for Lemos. Robert probably still has a lot of names on his CB shortlist, but one player that I haven't seen rumoured to us in a long time but think we should still keep an eye on is Jorge Mere. With Gijon relegated there are rumours they could sell him for about 8M. Latest rumours are saying that Marcelino (who has connections to Gijon) wants him in his new Valencia alongside Betis and two or three Bundesliga teams (don't remember which ones though). Chelsea was apparently also interested but if they changed their focus on Sanchez they are probably not after Mere anymore.

While some other CBs linked to us are probably better players right now I still find Mere intriguing. He's only 20 and has already played 2 full seasons in La Liga. He's still considered as one of Spain's best CB talents and we've missed out on so much domestic talent over the years so I wouldn't mind spent around 10M on him and hope he's somewhere on Robert's CB shortlist. Then if our plan is to go with Pique-Umtiti-Masche-Marlon next season I'd loan him out to La Liga team (maybe someone like Villarreal - because they are an organized team and he could improve there better than in misorganized bottom table team like Gijon - who could look for a new CBs with Musacchio apparently already sold to Milan) for a year and bring him back next season when Masche leaves.

If he turns out good for us then great if not we can always sell him but at least we won't be sorry in the future that we've missed out on another good/potentially great spanish talent we could've have for relatively cheap.

Well even if we promote Marlon, we still need another CB as there's a big chance we could lose both Mathieu and Mascherano this summer.

Bueno, is still a few years off from the first team. and we don't know yet if he has the level required to make it here. He's pretty much a wait and see deal as he just signed with us.

1-I don't think we will go for Lemos again, we tried to get him for cheap but backed out when LP aimed for big fee. He looks more and more like a CB whose best qualities is attacking skills,could excel as DM but we don't use that type of DM since Rijkaard has left us.
2-Mere is an interesting name,was popular in this forum when Halilovic was playing there and fans was watching Gijon for him, but the question remain about his fit to our system. He seem to fit teams with more defensive approach than attacking one tbf.

it looks like Kimmich had problems with Bayern, it's perfect time to snatch him up. Lepizig and City already interested in him.

l agree, when other teams has 3-4 quality CBs, when we have only Umtiti and Pique, just because l don't consider Masch as an solid option after this season. though he can stay as 4th option. if we promote Marlon, he should be 4th CB, not 3rd. in any case, 3rd CB, like Bayern's Martinez or Juve's Benatia/Rugani is a must for us.

Gamble on Palencia (he's not much worse than players we're linked) and invest big in RW for Valverde's 4-2-3-1. Dembele 1st choice, Silva 2nd.

If we are going to switch to Valverde's 4-2-3-1, that will also change our transfer priorities. Instead of buying another Central Midfielder we will have to focus on rebuilding the right flank and probably get another center back. This is why I don’t see how it would make sense to get Valverde and at the same time buy Coutinho.

Benjamin Henrichs has renewed his contract with Leverkusen until 2022. We were rumoured to be interested in him some time ago and I think some people also wanted him here.

1. You are probably right about Robert not going after Lemos again. Disagree about his qualities though. I believe he could improve his defensive skills a lot in a better team or under different coach/system. Las Palmas was just playing so offensively without caring too much about their defense it was hard for him to improve his defensive weaknesses like positioning which he of course still has at his young age (especially for CBs who usually mature later in their careers). Give him a tactically sound and disciplined coach and I believe he could improve a lot in that aspect of his game.

2. Why do you think that about Mere? Of course he's only played in Sporting who is a very limited team offensively (although they managed to play more attacking under Rubi than they did under Abelardo) so we don't know how he'd do in a different team/system but I think he's technically good enough to play for Barça.
