You forgot the part where the backups - young backups - were bought with the intention of being future starters. Great approach buying young talents slowly integrating them into the squad. Denis is back (great decision to let him leave and develop!), Rafinha was brought back, we can get Adama and Halilovic back if they develop like Denis did. Munir and Samper can come back as they wont be sold without buy back option or maybe even only loaned. Going the "Denis"-route is the right decision. If they develop and prove themselves like Denis did, they'll be back. Only bad decision was letting Grimaldo go without buy back. But Digne looks promising, so it doesn't hurt that much. Unless you got this thing where players have to be Spanish or Catalan. For me, Digne is fine. I don't see the problem.

None of them except maybe Umtiti are talented enough to be future star starters. Denis and Rafinha are squad players and will never be able to take Iniestas spot, or a creative spot for that matter. Well, that's your opinion. I'm of the opinion that they are talented enough to be future starters at Barca. Especially Umtiti and Denis and Roberto I feel have the required tools and the potential to succeed at Barca. You could say Roberto already is on his way. Gomes I'm intrigued with too. And it seems the club think so too with the way they are bringing in these youngsters to develop. They are not expected to start right away, which is the right thing to do. In 2-4 seasons we can make judgement and see who is right but I think some of them end up future starters and other quality backup.
Point is there is a clear idea for the now and the future. People may not like the specific players brought in, but the strategy is sound. We have the starters we need, but we still need to prepare for the future while having quality backup in present time. That's what they're doing so well, IMO. The whole we are selling our future is nonsense given the incoming talented youth this transfer window and the buy back options + loan deals we are doing.

According to Fernando Polio (MD) Paco wants to come to Barcelona as he sees it as a opportunity to win trophies, since he can't get that guarantee at Valencia. Back in July they still stuck with the 80 Million buyout clause but even with the sale of Andre Gomes they're still having problems with UEFA and that's perhaps the main reason Lim is willing to sell Alcacer for at least 35-40 Million.

If we loaned them Munir and Samper, they'd pretty much be starters as they won't have any actual no 9 besides converting Nani and Mina there. Let alone the midfield where Enzo is more injury prone than Adriano was and they have no defensive midfielders. So selling with buyback wouldn't motivate them on playing and developing them more.

But since Valencia is in the shit I wouldn't mind selling with okay buybacks just so we can help them out. A good club. Hope Lim pulls his head out of his ass.

They already have financial trouble so I think they'd rather loaning than buying players at this point

Seems like both deals (Diego Alves and Paco) are only a matter of time. Valencia want Munir and Samper in return as a swap deal but we only want loan. But I'm sure we will close both deals before the Liga starts.
