In addition, both a forward and at least one midfielder should also be pruned. I'd send away Deulo and Gomes.

Call up Arnaiz. A midfielder should be purchased only if of very high quality, otherwise Barca B could provide any deep depth needed.

The big reason to prune deadwood now is to clear more playing time for the likes of Paulinho, Arnaiz and S. Roberto.

That was a whole part of the Torres transfer though. Now we think about it I can’t think of a single successful January signing other than Suarez. All others I can think of were either impact players or just failures.
