Riyad Mahrez could leave Manchester City this winter as he is not a regular starter. In the past PSG and Real Madrid have shown interest (SantiJ_FM)

we should go for him if it?s not too expensive, we need a right winger

Mahrez is a strange case. Started every game in Champions League and played in those 4 games more minutes than in the whole EPL season so far.

That's the type of player we should try to get on loan. Experienced and very likely to perform right away. Unfortunately, I doubt City would want to loan him.

Thread title is rumours/rumors . So:

Six-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi, 34, could be set for a move back to Barcelona despite the Argentina forward having only quit the La Liga giants for Paris St-Germain three months ago. (Star)

Barcelona are preparing to bolster their forward line in January with Manchester City's England forward Raheem Sterling, 26, Manchester United's Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani, 34, and 25-year-old German international Timo Werner of Chelsea all being considered. (Marca, via Mirror)

What has changed financial wise ?

With recent reports that the attacker cannot agree to new terms, a move looks to be the best outcome, for both the club and the player.

However, with Barcelona understood to be the most interested club, finalising a future deal may prove difficult, especially if Manchester City are holding out for ?50m.

The La Liga side is in a world of debt and this has been well documented. How they could possibly finance such a big move is unknown, but one thing is for sure – if they’re able to drive Manchester City’s valuation down, snapping up Sterling could certainly prove to be decent business.

Apologies I was referring to your paragraph about Messi possibly returning.

Sterling has not got the technique or vision to play for Barca plus his final ball is useless

Absurd to say sterling hasn't got the level for Barca. He's 100x better than what we have been playing at the position in recent games. If the opportunity to sign him for cheap comes up we grab it with both hands, it won't be often a player of his calibre will sign for a team playing EL next season.

Fine and thank you.

Sadly, his final ball is for me 50/50. He appears indecisive in the pass or shot on goal.

City do not stand in the way of players who want to leave. They also appear to sell at way below market value. Almost a thank you parting gift. Buy high/sell low. Opposite of Levy at Spurs.
Sterling will be a bargain for somebody even with his foibles.

The talk is a loan move. BBC Sport

Mendes has offered us Fabio Carvalho whose contract with Fulham expires next year. Has started the season well with 3 goals and an assist in 5 games in Championship but then got injured. Was also offered to RM but Liverpool is apparently a front runner to sign him.

I have no idea if/how good he is but if we'd sign him (probably won't) I would expect it to be for Barca B or to be loaned out.

Xavi has said 'NO' to the signing of Dani Alves as he is focused on the future and developing young players, and considers Alves too old for the job. #FCBlive
