Maxime Caqueret? Rumoured price 25m. Plenty of experience and also a minor point, but Umtiti looks to go the other way.

Could be an option that has time on his side compared to others.

I think when the dust is settled at the end of August, it will be:

Martinez, Gundogan, Roque & someone like Cancelo on loan.

The smart decision would be either to save the money and not sign anyone and possibly bring Nico back or gamble on a low cost high potential player. I cannot tell you who though.

I wouldn't mind an expensive loan or someone out of buyout. Only as a stopgap for the year to add numbers.
Parejo and Oriol fit that, just don't "buy" them, I can talk myself into it, if it is one year thing

Brozovic was the clear best option of what was available, especially since Zubi made it very clear, early on, that he did not want to come. They were sleeping and gave the Saudis an in.

He wouldn't have been overly expensive and has experience. You could of bought him and Diaz for about half of what Zubi's clause is. Diaz likely wouldn't like the idea of sharing time though, which I can't blame him.

I rather take a punt on Diaz though than players like Parejo, Amrabat or Neves.

Diaz isn't even a real DM currently but more of CM, and he plays in Uruguay league, he won't join to be a starter here.
Think he’s a good fit for Frenkie. Good long range passing, better in physical duels than him. Frenkie better at carrying the ball.

Anyway, looking at the names we are linked with Frenkie, Gundogan, Pedri and Gavi will be the core formation.

A majority of people have wanted Busi gone for years…

If we replace him with a player who is his same age and a much worse version of himself that would be wild.

This club does need some forward thinking when it comes to squad management though… hopefully Deco can bring some stability in that department…

He's young and very talented, and he appears to have the qualities to adjust to playing as a pivot. Not the ideal candidate, I agree.

Like I mentiomed, I still prefer taking a chance on someone like him for 8mil than pay 3x that much for Amrabat, Neves or Parejo- players we know won't do well, will want to sell next season, and they will not want to leave. With them, it's just flushing the money down the toilet.
