It's the future. In the future alot of players will prioritise money over trophies. Can't blame them. Money pays the bills and Saudi type money creates generational wealth.
Yep, and because of budget constraints we will have to adapt.
Instead of getting older players like Brozovic or Messi who prefer chose money, lower workload or more Asados, then unless we can afford to go toe-to-toe with the EPL (we can't) for 60m+ signings all the time then we will have to do one of three things
1) rely on La Masia
2) sign LaLiga proven lower quality that no one else wants, not even Saudi Arabia
3) sign prospects and bleed them in earlier than we had initially wanted
To be honest a mix of all three is fine, and there is a fourth option for old players that still have some self worth to want to play at the highest level like Gundagon.
Usually in this example Barcelona goes for 1). We got a bit lucky recently with Balde and Gavi, and not so lucky with Sergi Roberto.
So maybe things turn out alright and with a midfield 4 to support him, that Nico Gonzalez exceeds expectation and fulfills potential in that setup.
Or as alot have said, we bite the bullet and double down on that with a well scouted option like Fabricio Diaz and give him an opportunity earlier than we would have liked.
I doubt it would be Parejo, but that would be a very Xavi thing. Not want guys like Fresneda (despite having Kounde to play there) because you want players who can compete today, and then going for Parejo who is physically and skillwise worse than Busi who we couldn't compete in Europe with previously.
And saying all this useless text, we still haven't addressed any offensive creativity in the market. Fuck me. Maybe we can get Luis Enrique out of retirement.
So with no offensive wide signings anticipated, I'm pretty sure we will continue with 4 midfielders in our 11. Which does give The Gardener more flexibility of who we get for that elusive DMC/now double pivot ish spot.
Oh and we should probably have targeted an offensive rightback.
