Solid deal but not something we should jump on straight away. Should be able to get at least same money if not better offers in summer.

Would prefer to have the next coach have a look at Faye in preseason and then decide what to do with him. He might prefer him over Cubarsi for all we know.

With Cubarsi now seemingly in full first team dynamics also can't afford to lose another CB for BA with not much time and money to find a replacement.

The issue is what can do with the money now though.. if his fee to Barca was 5m odd then what would be the point? To make 4m that can barely spend half of.

Be as well loaning him out next season and hoping he does so well the price rises further and then potentially in better place to sell him in future when can then have a better % to use.

That is all assuming they would even be willing to sell him now and dont see him as a bet for future.

What's this? Have I missed something?

There is a rumour that this is why his transfer to France failed, and he went to 2nd division in Croatia, a passport "issue" of some sort that made them reluctant.
Could always be stereotype of African players, but also it kind makes sense considering his career trajectory. You don't go from a highly thought talent in Senegal, to Croatian 2nd division to Barca B without such question marks.

If that were the case and he were presumebly 21+ then I am sure we would take the quick flip. This sale goes a fair way to reinvest into Bergvall and/or even look for another CB.

The other side is would Frankfurt and Lens be so keen and be willing to pay 9/10m right now?

Would be a mistake to sell Faye. Just because Cubarsi looks better for now doesn't mean we should let Faye go cheap.

We made the same mistake with Todibo. Araujo came through and looked better and they let Todibo go cheap. I always felt that was the sale I regretted the most in the past few years. It seemed fairly obvious to me that Todibo would comfortably go on to be at least a 30-40m euro footballer from what we saw of him here.

I think they can manage. Team is doing fairly well and promotion should be an afterthought (if not avoided) so nothing to worry about. Could promote the Cuenca kid if needed

Well, ofc we can manage to find someone or promote another kid but really like Faye from the start and would like to keep him under club control and see how he develops.

Could use similar deal we did with Chadi Riad to see how he does in La Liga team for next season or two before finally deciding on his future for example. Might actually send him to Betis and get Chadi back this summer (IIRC we can't use our buy back before 2025) if we think he's ready to be our 3rd or preferably 4th choice CB.

As JamDav said we won't really make much profit on him right now and/or couldn't use most of that money (which we would only get in summer anyway) so really don't see why we should accept first offer.

Another question is if Mika would even accept going to Lens or if he prefers to wait for his chance here or move to a bigger club. Likes of Chelsea (well, they are interested in everyone) and Dortmund were following him before he signed with us after all. Although going to a Ligue 1 club which has played in CL this season probably wouldn't be a wrong move at his age (saying that without really knowing much about Lens or how much playing time he'd get there). But is that something he wants at this point?

Todibo has himself admitted his attitude was terrible and he had not set the world alight at Schalke or Benfica.

He needed to leave, grow up and learn his game. Worked well for both parties and Barca in end signed him for 1m... barely played and will make 20m+ from him.

Regarding Faye it wouldn't make sense to sell him before the new manager comes. And if we did sell him, not without a low buyback clause as with Chadi.

Anyways Marquez is high on him, and as a defender himself has surely passed reports to Deco and the SD team.

Should never become a case of Cuabarsi vs Faye as they are very different types of CBs and very compatible infact.

First we should be looking to monetize the likes of Eric Garcia, Kounde and potentially Christensen. Not forgetting that we have Inigo for another year bar a Saudi miracle, and it's very questionable how much of that he will stay fit.

We bought Faye for 1.5M (that was the accurate sources said later, and TM list) on a 4 year contract. That will be around 8M profit for a club that will try to get whatever it can in an awful financial situation.
Not bad tbh.

Well, how many times did we have 2 young successful CB succeed at same time? We tried this before with several players and every time it is same result: Only 1 survivor.
Todibo and Araujo, Pique and Caceras etc.
And we don't have the room for more youngsters unless we are determined to go the Dortmund route.
Team has so many holes and very little money. Roberto, Alonso, Romeuo (Besiktas want him), Felix & Cancelo will need to be replaced, along registering Roque, and that is without looking for other team needs,

Even if paid 1.5m for him and sold for 9m that is 7.5 million and then only his salary gained next season and small amortised cost. What could they do for rest of this season with 3/4m if sell him? Very little and almost certainly have to be a loan as would cover space for a signing on next seasons FFP.

Should start offloading first team deadwood (even if won't get much in terms of transfer fee just offloading wages will help) before thinking about making relatively small profit from selling promising kids imo.

Yes, unlikely Cubarsi and Faye will both make it here longterm but there is no need to make decisions about that now. Maybe in summer but def not on last days of winter TW. I don't see this offer as too good to turn down even in current situation. Now if we'd be talking about offers around 15-20m upfront with % of future sale that would be another story.

I'm not saying that they are going to be our long term CB partnership. I'm just talking of their profiles and that if we see first team potential in both, that we shouldn't discard one just because we have 9m on the table today and the other has made his breakthrough earlier than anticipated, but under a coach that won't be here next season.

And that if they both we're to form part of our first team that they provide us with a compatible partnership. So it is not as if we have two Araujo profiles coming through, that we know are not really compatible as a Barcelona CB pairing, and we decide to sell the one we deem as lesser potential.

Chadi is coming back, so not entirely opposed to the idea of Faye or Cubarsi going out on loan next year. Just don't see the reason to take 9/10m today on a centreback that may be a first team option, while we have guys like Eric to sell first. Or Kounde or Christensen who can raise a higher transfer fee to re-invest in the first 11.

It will be for next year, as this season it will be loan from B team, won't affect our situation this year at all tbf.

Should start offloading first team deadwood

It is never like that, those are always seperate saga.

@Porque I guess it is mainly because I don't rate Faye that high, so I think it is always better to cash on a player like that rather than waiting for the dream promise.

I don’t rate Faye on CB, but I would try him as DM - I have a feeling he could do alright, a little like Mascherano when he was played there.

The incorporation of Ibrahim Diarra confirmed
FC BARCELONA
The 17-year-old Malian playmaker, one of the standouts in the last U-17 World Cup, will spend a period of training before knowing whether he will reinforce the Juvenil team or Barça Atlètic

Huge move. Best winger since Lamine Yamal.
