How is there a good chance? Even if we get to 1:1 (we won't) we still have to sell players for at least 60+ mil to get Nico. We can't sell anybody for that money, the players don't want to leave.

That is far from correct.
A 60M for a player is amortized on his contract. A player like Nico is likely to get 5 years contract.
So his salary cap hit will be 12M + his salary per year. Assuming his salary is 12M for example, that is 24M.
You can get that by selling a player for profit, or clearing 24M salary.
It is a complicated process that can make head spins, but the point is, we don't need 60M sale to sign a player like Nico

Yes the issue with Nico is more that the club itself would have to pay in full rather than installments, and not the Salary Cap.

That's the difference between Barcelona and Madrid though. They offer 200m and end up getting the player for free.

We offer the player for free, and end up paying 50m

Very good chance they sign Nico Williams from Athletic who some people on this forum have decided is some shit version of Dembele for some reason I don't quite understand, but don't care much to argue back and forth.
The similitudineis there both decent wingers with a bad goal ratio and shady ball control. I admit Nico looks more involved but apart from a Flick masterclass I don't see how nico will be able to win us UCL. So what's the point on spending 60-70 milions for a player that can do more or less what Raphinha can, then you have Felix too.
The whole point of me posting about the Brazilians is the idea shared aboved. Barcelona neeeds players withou a talent ceiling to recover its status. You can very much waste money on them but you also have the chance of recovering the lost briliance. I will also adventure to say Dumbele was a more sane transfer considering that we had Messi back then than Nico considering that he will need to be the main focus of our efforts. I don't know maybe I can't see his briliance but that's my opinion.
We can't afford to waste money on good enough except if we plan to be more or less the new Atletico.

Btw If Flick wants him for his swarming I will respect his decision afterall that's the point of having the new coach. But I feel we are going the overhype cry later path again. Nico needs to score 20 goals for me to be on his side.

He is not finished product yet, but he has great potential.

I would rather get him then Diaz.

Nico, Merino and we are good.

Those Brazilians without a ceiling don't grow on trees.

How many years are you going to wait to sign a winger like that? Five? Maybe more? In the last 10-15 years there's only been Neymar and arguably Vinicius like that. Rodrygo is very good, but not as talented as those two.

I saw you mentioned Estevao and while I wouldn't mind signing him, he's not a left-winger. Signing him and then putting him on the left side would be putting a ceiling on his potential.

Again I don't mind or care too much if they don't end up signing Nico Williams, but people complain all the time and offer no solution. The chances of a left-winger with an elite potential appearing out of nowhere anytime soon isn't very high, and even if that happens what makes people think that player would choose to sign for us?

We controlled the Brazilian market and couldn't even sign Vinicius Jr or Rodrygo. Even Argentine players like Echeverri who idolize Messi almost like he's their God went and joined Man City and didn't care too much about waiting for us to make a move and deal with our issues.

SPORT are reporting that Madrid have agreed to sign Mastantuono from River. Marca are reporting that Madrid haven't officially offered, but have agreed with the player whose buyout clause is 45m.

Yes, theoretically we could sign Nico without having to sell anyone important.

We just received 8m from Chadi's sale to Crystal Palace. Could get another 8-10m if Nice will finally sell Todibo to PL (Arsenal reportedly interested).

So that's 16-18m. Get few millions from Girona for Oreo and Eric and we're there. Nico would probably need to accept lower wage in first season or two but that's possible to negotiate if he wants to join.

As @Porque pointed out having 50m in cash to pay his clause would be bigger problem than sign him from FFP viewpoint.

Nico made Athletic a big favour by renewing when he could've easily left for free. They aren't gonna budge on the amount of the release clause but I'm sure they're willing to negotiate an alternative payment plan if Nico really wants to join Barca.

He was always going to leave Athletic this summer, this way he helps them get a fair amount for him, installments or not. Athletic aren't short on cash. On the books he'll be a 50m sale either way.

Ayoze Pérez has been offered to Barcelona at a bargain price of €4m. He's an option if Vitor Roque leaves. @ffpolo

I wouldn't mind Ayoze but as a replacement for Felix (or even better Ferran if we can sell him) and not Vitor.

But I would prefer Pau Victor (swap for Oreo) and have him as that versatile forward.
