Barca Transfers and Rumors

Yeah, Manaj, Faye and Olmo were our signing from this agency. All were solid purchases tbh (Olmo might fail, but they helped us to lower his price, and it was a coach request deal).

How will Olmo fail? Overall he has been a bargain so far.
Barca "fans" are just erratic, they think Olmo was the fault no else scored last game and the season is ruined, even when all missed shit. Whimsy bunch.

I wouldn't call it a bargain though, the real problem of him is consistency, but the other possible transfers wanted weren't as good as some dream either, at least they didn't sign another one of those mafia frauds that just disappear.

It wouldn't matter so much if Barca didn't have FFF and Gavi who does nothing besides being the cheeky la masia wrestler.

I agree. I always remember when the rumors started and people seriously thought it would be better to play Fermin Lopez because he scored against some randoms in the Olympics. That's when I knew people were clueless. While Olmo carried for Spain in the Euros.

Yeah his injuries suck but he is not that expensive. Like you said we have players that offer nothing currently that are way more detrimental than damn Olmo.

Barca will not be fully back until it moves on from these high paid, yet useless on the field players:

Frenkie
Fati
Ferran
The False One

I have no problem with Olmo when he plays. The problem is he doesn't really play that often and we all knew it will be like that before he signed.

Linked to South African wonderkid.

Relebohile Mofokeng,

Linked with Cardoso Varela.

So, 3 young players we are linked to, all are right footed LW, a position of need for both first and B team. Dare I say with almost no big talent in the horizon from the rest of academy? I think Virgili is the closest to a one, but he is older than a guy like Darvich whom many fans gave up on, Dani plays there but he will be in first team soon (with Barca or elsewhere).
I am not sure if this is because we want talents in the position, or they just happen to be available while playing in the same position (two are free agent signings)

Acting like an armchair scout ;) , I don't see Mofokeng as a viable option tbh, I think he was offered legitimately to Barca B in order to boost his profile. It feels he is too good and too old for Barca B, he will probably wants to go somewhere like Portugal or France to play there. He is already playing with SA NT, it feels like a wrong move to go to 3rd division Barca B.
Maybe a loan deal this season could happen, although African players takes months to get their papers done.

Varela OTOH looks like a raw but great talent. Very good dribbling and speed, this video was while he was 15 years of age. Doesn't mean he will make it as he is clearly more physically developed than the opponents, doesn't mean it will translate. But I like this type of signing, low risk and high reward.

Cordero feels like a Roque type case, Segunda player so easier to evaluate him, and his numbers is good for the level and age, his videos however is very underwhelming and can't get you to even complete it. He is probably a high floor, low ceiling type of signing.

I'm in the "sign all three and see how they develop" camp. They are/will be either free or cheap so worse case scenario we sell for profit and best case one of them proves to be good enough at least as a squad player.

Varela is the youngest and would probably start at Juvenil A (especially if signed in January) but should progress to BA relatively soon.

Cordero should get a preseason and then be loaned to a Segunda (or maybe even La Liga) team if he wouldn't have a spot in first team. Unless we'll invest some money to bring him in January then he'll probably play for BA next 6 months but that's ok imo. Better play on a lower level for few months (could still benefit training with and potentially get some first team minutes) than sit on Malaga's bench. Could be wrong but think he won't play much for them anymore if they'll know he's leaving (understandable from their perspective but ofc not good for his development).

My plan would be to negotiate with Malaga in next few weeks and if they refuse to sell then sign him on a pre-contract in January. Once they realize they'll lose him anyway they might be more willing to at least get something for him.

Mokofeng is the oldest amongst them and probably least likely to have first team future but think he could help BA and then be flipped for some money. Agree with you it's probably the best for his career to go to Ligue 1/Primeira/Eredivsie/Belgium but if he's willing to play for BA for a season or two then I'd definitely consider him. Or alternatively we could buy and then loan to a club in one of these leagues to develop but we never really do that.

It's a bit of a lost opportunity. We should consider all possible ways to bring as much (cheap) talent as we can to the club. Until our finances will be back to normal I'm also open to "joint-operations" like the Emerson deal with Betis though not sure if co-ownership is still allowed.

Sell players who are not good enough (or don't make it for different reasons) and re-invest. You win some, you lose some (surely more from a pure numbers perspective) but long term this approach can still be beneficiary both financially and also from a sporting perspective. If we find and sign the next Pedri or Araujo then missing on 8 or 9 other players is still worth it.
