Yeah. There's other factors which affect it though. Kroos in his last year wanting to leave, Bayern willing to sell to at least get something. Valencia not wanting to sell so we must meet buyout etc.

Well Kroos is 24 and Mathieu is turning 31... There is absolutely no way 20m for a 30 year old defender of Mathieu´s calibre can be justified. Just horrible. He´s not bad, but anything over 12-15m is absurd. But it´s not official yet, maybe they´ve worked out a better deal.

Doubt it man. People know we're desperate too so that's just the way it is. The defender market is also very inflated ATM because there's not many good defenders about.

If Mathieu does well then he is worth it. Let's not pretend we aren't desperate here cause we really are. He's a good player and 20m isn't that much in today's market at all. Paying a bit over the top for him is better than getting another makeshift centre back or none at all.

Good summer so far:

- We brought in 2 pretty good goal keepers.
- Upgraded Dos Santos with Rafinha
- Upgraded Sanchez with Suarez
- Upgraded Tello with Deulofeu
- Got rid of the dead weight (Bojan, Cuenca) ... now just get rid of Afellay
- Rakitic will be just as good as Cesc, maybe even better

All we need still is the obvious 2 Centre backs. IMO one of them should be over 25, and the other should be under 25.
Do this, and possibly sell Song, and we will have a fantastic season

I'm not too sure on Afellay. Lucho seems to like him, and he looks a lot better now than he did last season. Who knows, maybe he will become a good joker to have on the bench. I'd much rather see Song sold.

It's remarkable how few rumors are surfacing of potential CB transfers aside from Mathieu. Unless the second CB they promised is already a sure thing and only awaiting contract details behind the scenes, we should be worried that a knee-jerk signing will soon follow in order to appease the Barca fans.
