Masch has easily been one of the best players in the last 2/3 games and over the three games against Atletico Madrid this season was Barcelonas best player by some distance.

The way he dives into tackles and his height will cost us against the big teams. He nearly gave away a penalty vs Madrid and was almost sent off vs Atletico. Sell him or move him to DM.

Mascherano has been solid this season (two Madrid games), really don't understand the negativity surrounding him on this page, Balanta doesn't seem any better then Bartra and Dede isn't the player people think he is. Honestly of all the defenders people list most are £30mil and not worth it and others are South American players no one has heard of and won't be any better then Bartra

'Nearly gave away penalty against Atletico'

That all you have taken from his three games against Atletico just proves your bias.

Shows you bias, he has been about the only CB in the league that has has handeld Diego Costa this season.

He is not there to win headers etc he is there to cover the other defenders or step out and win the ball early which he does better than any other CB easily.

I think the problem is you don't understand his position or role to be honest.

When we face the likes of man city and bayern we will feel the pinch of not having tall players. We already have a small team our CBs can't be small too. We need physicality and height in our team to win the CL.

That's why I think a tall fast CB and a plan b #9 is needed

Bringing another inexperienced young CB (Dede, Balanta)is imo wrong.Keep playing with Masch as a CB is risky. I would sell Song,use Masch as Busi's sub and buy an experienced CB (27-30yo) who won't mind rotating with Pique,Bartra and Puyol.That way we would have 4 CBs and shift Masch to the back if needed.

Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid never looked all that dangerous this season from set pieces.

The idea is that having someone like Masch who wins so many balls and keeps possession so well it reduces the number of corners and set pieces the other team gets.

If there was a CB that could do what he does and have height that would obviously be better but there is no player around that can.

As much as I love Puyol he is finished. We can't rely on him. Please tell me which is this experienced defender who is a realistic target? To much money being thrown around to get the big names.
