Stones has more potential than Laporte. He is faster and with his aggressiveness (a la Mascherano) he would be a better partner to Pique (who could also help him with lingo)

All this talk about CB's is pretty Exciting.

I remember some River plate fans giving Funes Mori a lot of stick for not being that good. But he has been impressive for Everton every time he gets a chance to play.

Or it could've been his brother that got a lot of stick for not being good but either way, Mori has been solid.

Stones is nothing like Masch. Aggressive and fast? No doubt, but unlike Masch he's got zero discipline or defensive awareness. He's more like a switched off Piqué.
Besides, even if we throw in Deulofeu, he'll still cost 10-20M more than he should because of those bona-fide EPL credentials.

I am not saying we should go for Stones. I said he could be only attainable option of those that were mentioned and that he has more potential than Laporte and that he'd make a better partner to Pique.
Sure, he makes dumb decisions but so did Masc when he was 21.

Why isn't Laporte getting the benefit of doubt when he makes some dumb decisions at the same age? Is it because he doesn't go out charging like a blind horse like Stones? It doesn't make any sense.

We need a faster CB to compliment Pique. And with Stones aggressiveness we could mould him into interceptor like Mascherano.
Pique-Laporte playing in our high line would be a disaster.

But Laporte is among the fastest CBs in La Liga. He's not slow at all and is comparable to Stones pace-wise.

I'm not sure he'd be a great partner for Piqué. I'd much rather have a rock hard no nonsense bully like Masch beside him than twinkle toed Stones. Who? No idea. Granted the pickings are slim, but I'd rather not blow a transfer window worth of euros on Stones, that's certain.

In that case the best option might be Mustafi among the names we've been linked to.

Or get the scouting team to do something for the 1st team for once.

Stones I think will be better defender than Laporte neither are anywhere near the finished article but Stones I think is a bit quicker, better on the ball and better in air.

He seems to be suffering from over playing a bit at moment and trying to win the ball in every situation but I can remember worse from Pique at that age and the likes of Rio Ferdinand went through similar things.

Can remember Pique getting absolutely torn to shreds by Michael Mifsud for Coventry in England.

Teams are talking about huge money for Stones and Laporte for what they could become more than what they are at moment.

Yeah, I don't disagree. I like him, but he's also had some horror shows this season, making me wonder if he's really worth what Valencia is bound to ask for him. Then again, who would look good at current day Valencia...
As someone already suggested, Gimenez could also be interesting. If he could be lured away from Atletico, that is. I'm guessing his buyout wouldn't be worse than Laporte or Mustafi?

As far as I'm concerned Mascherano should stay as starting CB for at least 2 more seasons, said so before.
By then we can see if Tarin can make it or if there's something new in the market.
