Just to add to your post ,Weigl,Dahoud,Bernardo Silva,Renato Sanches (specially if Mourinho move to Manu ,doubt will go after him)Rúben Neves,Youri Tielemans,Ćorić,Bazoer are all young midfielders with lots of potential right now and we have been following most of them btw if rumours to be trusted .Jombi can probably add another half of dozen to the list
Pretty much all attacking midfielders, to slow for Barcelona attacking midfield and hardly more "talanted" then what we already have.
We need a creative playmaker.
D.Suarez,Rafinha,Halilovic,Samper,Kapto um, Alena are squad players at best.
halilovich far from impressive and really bad against us.

Pretty much all attacking midfielders. We need a creative playmaking one.

They are far from all attacking midfielders. But thats besides the point. Deco, Yaya and Rakitic were all attacking midfielders before they arrived at Barca. Deco even replaced the defensive midfielder Edgar Davids.

We play differently than other teams, and we face parked buses more than any other team. We cant necessarily say that their position in their current team is a good position for them in our team.

1-It is easy to call every prospect an squad player at best .quit frankly many people thought that players like Iniesta & Xavi were going to be half the players they became .many of those prospects have huge future ahead of him .Alena is still young but he has a world class potential to say at least .already trained many times with 1st team
2-Half of those players aren't AM ,in fact some of them are DM/CM .It doesn't look like you even know most of them
3-What we already have a midfield that has already won the treble with us ,people are too attached to the past when they think that midfield isn't good enough for Barca
We won the CL with a midfield of Edmílson ,MVB & Deco in 2006 .R10 was the main creator of that team .that midfield had a CB ,an aggressive DM and a defensive minded AM (Deco)
we won the CL again with a midfield of Xavi/Iniesta/Yaya .too gr8 technically gifted player and a bull .then we won it with Xavi/Iniesta/Busquets who were all technical players .then again with Iniesta/Busquets/Rakitic .a mdifeld that again took a step back for our attack to let them create for themselves like Rijkaard days
4-the players I mentioned are all gifted with much potential, whoever replace Iniesta we will have to make adjustments .like we did in evry time b4 . there is very little chance we will have a new Xavi in the future and that might be for the best .again every era has his own type of midfield .

Well, Saul is a fantastic player, so there's that to consider. And he's young.

Is he a Barca type player though? Maybe. But we probably dont have the money anyway as we have to pay taxes on any buyout fee and we have wasted 60m on Arda and Vidal already.

Wasn't Barca rumoured to have the first option on Saul and Manquillo as a part of Villa's transfer a few years ago?

This will make some people happy

Baily on the list as a reliable alternative to the main targets Marquinhos and Laporte

I cant remember, but I doubt "first option" mean much. Saul and Manquillo would both strengthen us though, no doubt. Especially Saul, he is a monster.

first option only means, if Atletico were planning to sell the player, they should surely let us know. As in, let's say some club bid for the player and Atletico liked it & were ready to accept it, they should surely inform our club that they were accepting the said bid from the third club. And then, if we also made the same offer they surely should accept it, cannot say no!

Practically speaking, we don't really have any advantage by having that first option on the player

We don't need attackers or midfielders!
ATM our defense is a JOKE!
I don't mean break the bank for shinny new toys
Just get cheaper effective defenders like Eric Bailly Kostas Manolas or Kalidou Koulibaly.

According to Sport these are young players we are looking at:

10-players-barca-follow-sport-1461590872717.jpg

1. PAULO DYBALA

Date of birth: 15/11/1993 Laguna Larga (22)
Nationality: Argentine
Position: Forward
Club: Juventus
Contract: 30.06.2020

Now on the path to being a superstar, Barça have been following him since before he signed for Juventus. He is one of the players most well-liked by the club's international sporting director, Ariedo Braida. This season he has scored 20 goals and created eight more, with Juve closing the door on any potential exit.

2. OUSMANE DEMBELÉ

Date of birth: 15/05/1997 (18)
Nationality: French (left)
Position: Forward
Club: Rennes
Contract: 30.06.2018

One of FC Barcelona's priorities. Robert Fernandez and Urbano Ortega have both watched him more than once in recent months. In fact, the club have been following him for two years. Talks with Rennes are advanced. In recent weeks there has been speculation that his contract has a five million euro escape clause in the case that Barça wanted to sign him.

3. JORGE MERÉ

Date of birth: 17/04/1997 (19)
Nationality: Spanish
Position: Centre-back
Club: Sporting
Contract: 30.06.2019

From Oviedo, he caught Barcelona's attention a while ago. He has been able to cope with the pressure of playing in the Primera Division this season, facing up to situations with experience which belies his years on the pitch.

4. CAMERON BRANNAGAN

Date of birth: 09/05/1996 (19)
Nationality: English
Position: Attacking midfielder
Club: Liverpool U21
Contract: 30.06.2018

Made his debut for Liverpool in September in the Europa League against Bordeaux, but plays for their U21 side currently. Plays in an advanced midfield role and is an U20 international with England.

5. RIECHDLY BAZOER

Date of birth: 12/10/1996 (19)
Nationality: Dutch
Position: Central midfield
Club: Ajax
Contract: 30.06.2020

One of the young stars of Dutch football. The players himself confirmed Barça's interest a few months ago and said he would love to play for the Catalan club. Barcelona believe Bazoer could be a player to lead a generation in the future, but he still needs the necessary time to mature.

6. SAMUEL UMTITI

Date of birth: 14/11/1993 (22)
Nationality: French
Position: Centre-back
Club: Olympique de Lyon
Contract: 30.06.2019

A left-footed defender who can also play at left-back. He stands out for his pace and pysical ability in one-on-one situations. His price would be around 15 million euros. Robert and Urbano watched him play against Nice just over a week ago.

7. WENDELL

Date of birth: 20/07/1993 (22)
Nationality: Brazilian
Position: Left-back
Club: Bayer Leverkusen
Contract: 30.06.2019

The Brazilian full-back has caught the attention of many of Europe's top clubs due to his defensive qualities and his ability to attack - which is a necessity for a left-back at Barcelona. The problem is that Leverkusen want 35 million euros for him.

8. ADRIÁN MARÍN
Date of birth: 09/01/1997 (19)
Nationality: Spanish
Position: Left-back
Club: Villarreal B
Contract: 30.06.2017

Another full-back coming through in Spanish football. He is a 19-year-old left-back who, despite starting the season with Villarreal B, is earning more and more minutes under Marcelino.

9. JAIRO RIEDEWALD
Date of birth: 09/09/1996 (19)
Nationality: Dutch
Position: Centre-back
Club: Ajax
Contract: 30.06.2020

Came through Ajax's academy before making his first team debut in the 2014-15 season. It's been the current season, though, when he's become a regular. Robert has wathced him before, including in last October's game between the Netherlands and the Czech Republic.

10. ANWAR EL-GHAZI

Date of birth: 03/05/1995 (20)
Nationality: Dutch
Position: Right wing
Club: Ajax
Contract: 30.06.2019

Barça's sporting director also watched this Ajax player this season. The winger has caught so much attention that the Dutch club's sporting director, former Barcelona player Marc Overmars, has had to come out and say he is not for sale.
