Rakitic in Sevilla was playing as 10, right behind the striker. He was also not much of a creator, more like universal attacking midfiedler able to shoot and score from distance. His passing and creating was never that great. So the problem is that in Barca in 4-3-3 half of his best attributes (shooting,scoring) are wasted. Gundogan on the other side was never much of a scorer, however his passing and ball control is better than Rakitic, he'd fit much better our 4-3-3 formation and can even back Busqets reasonably well.

Exactly, the only thing different is that hes been told not to shoot so often. Like i said before hes more like a weaker version of Iniesta, which, all of our midfielders are.
They are all of the same mold, all Attacking midfielders. Busquets, if any, is the only one that can control and create, it has never been Iniestas strong point.
Our midfield is dcent, but adding someone like Gündogan i think would elevate our level of play alot by taking of alot of Messis burden of having to create everything.

The Kante train passed last summer when he was available from Caen in France. He was a 7m euros signing. Now he's 50m euros and we cant blow that kind of money when we have needs in defense and up front.

Our mid-field is fine, but if we do get a player like Verratti/Pogba/Gundogan, it would be a definite upgrade on it. Although, it should be the last of our priorities. We have bigger issues to fix first.

Samper has not really done anything to merit a place in the Barca squad.

A lot of the weakness in midfield at moment is they are slow to support attack and defence and struggle defensively against counter. Samper is just another version of that who is not better than any CM in the squad.

Agree about Denis Suarez and think he should be brought back and front three rotated and any one of them told they can leave if dont like it.

Arda should be apart of the front 3, rotating on the wings.

Only a max of 2 out of Rafa,Denis,samper and Roberto will make it here anyways,so let them compete for the remaining 2 spots in midfield.
