I agree - he would be a very good option to have in the squad. Contrary to the other transfers we are chasing, the player would be the hardest one to convince in this case - he knows MSN is near-untouchable..

Watching the game yesterday, I went ballistic over why on earth didn't we sign Augusto Fernandez. He went for freaking 4 millions and he was blocking everything Bayern got yesterday. Where the F are our scouts? He'd have been the most perfect DM/CM signing and he's old enought (30 now) for Samper to have a chance in the first team.

I mean.. he even played for Celta and our badass scouts were scouting Nolito there.. I guess they just kept their eyes closed on everyone else.. "not my job to do".

4 millions.. we paid the same for Douglas...

I'm disapoointed with the scouts and the club for not getting a great bargain. Had he been 40 mills we'd already have him.

It's about being smart on the market. Which shouldn't be that difficult if we are talking about fricking La Liga, players right under our noses.

We basically threw 60+ million this winter on nothing. And we were laughing at Madrid for Danilo (who we missed only because he rejected Barca for Madrid).

I'm not complaining.

I just don't think we needed Augusto (Atletico signed him in January after Tiago's longterm injury) when we were already getting our midfield reinforcement in Arda so there was no need to sign him. He's also looking good defensively mostly because of great Atletico's system and would be more exposed here. Offensively he wouldn't add too much and I wouldn't trust him to play in big games in Busquets's place anymore than Roberto.

And we did get some great bargains in Rakitic, MAtS and also Bravo two years ago, so it's not like we must always pay 40M to get a good player.

It's all about the right fit, finding the right fit is the hard thing.

If there's one "old" La Liga midfielder we should sign it's Bruno Soriano from Villareal.

He would fit in perfectly.

To be fair, Augusto played good in Celta's system which is more similar to ours than Atletico's. He's adaptable and without doubt a good player. But as I said, I don't think he could play Busquets role in our system and he wouldn't add much more offensively than our current CMs, so why buy him? Maybe he'd be a bargain signing for 4M and good squad player, but not someone to cry about that we missed him. If he was around 24 yo he'd be worth to take, but then his price would be most likely much higher.

And he was Atletico's replacement for Tiago, not Arda, so we can't say we should buy Augusto instead of Arda. They are different type of players with Arda being much better of them, he just didn't show all his qualities yet in Barça. I hope he gets another season to do that (if we don't get some really good offer we can't turn down).
