Funny. Every sane Barca fan would say that we weakened our team after the 2009 treble when Eto was replaced with 70m Ibra.
Caceres actually had La Liga experience and was sold to the fans as exactly that. Benatia is actually less proven in that he has no experience in playing in an open league like La Liga and a team like Barca. We have heard the story of why we must buy massively overpriced players who want one last big paycheck so many time now, and it fails time and time again. I think one of the reasons is that it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks. It is a big change for someone used to play a certain way their whole career to join a team like Barca where things are played so differently, and thats why they often flop miserably and we are left with a player with a huge wage who we want to off-load, and end up selling for peanuts.

I do agree. Players like Chygrynskiy, Henrique and Keirrison were awful transfers. Problem is, that no one really rated them BEFORE we bought them anyway. People in Ukraine laughed at us when we bought Chyg for 25m. It was pure madness. Same with Keirrison. He was never rated highly by most Brazilians. He scored a few goals in Brazil, but almost all were tap-ins and he was heavily criticized by Brazilian fans for his lack of any real skills. Yet we went on and signed the guy for 14m, gave him a 5-year contract and he hasnt played a single game for us. Everyone could see it coming, and it is a shocking waste of money. Its appalling. The scary part is that this has been going on for many, many years, regardless of administration. Its like we dont have any scouts whatsoever and our transfer negotiation team is made up of drunkards.

No signing we make this summer should be older than 26 unless we can get a bosman deal or one-year left on contract deal for an older than 26 player. 22-26 year olds should be our target range. Players with decent experience, sell-on-value and ability to improve. And not old dogs that cant be taught new tricks in a very different team like Barca is.
We urgently need to start buying smart and focus on value in the market, which we havent done for 7 years. Ever since 2007, all transfer summers have been overall failures and huge waste of money and has only been covered up by a great La Masia system. This cant go on anymore.

There should be no talk of any midfielder or striker, unless we bring in at least 2 defenders.. After that, we can chase a striker, winger and a few central midfielders, Stll dont want us to sell Alexis, because he is somebody that has shown alot more than a few others in this squad.

So what you're suggesting is we should only focus on defenders until we have 2 and then try to sign a midfielder and a striker on the last day of the transfer window?
