what do you want? we can't predict the future, i'd rather do that than spend 15 million on someone who may never be good enough.

nobody knew dv7 would be injured. he was a perfect player before then. nobody knew milito would be injured either. as for ibra, he was quality. i didn't think he'd do well and he did. but we know personal problems can't be anticipated.

It wasnt only his injury though. Villa was a shadow of his former self with us before the injury as well and he was heavily criticized but he cost 40m so had to play regardless. His games to goals ratio with us was a far cry from his glory days.

Actually we can. A serious injury is far worse for players approaching 30 than for 22 year olds in general. Thats why it is even more outrageous to pay the money we did for players like Milito, Villa and Ibra.

Ok. 22 year olds will recover better after serious injuries, but 22 year olds usually don't have the experience of playing on the highest level (CL, for example).
They have only skills.
We need skills+experience.

You can't win CL with 22 year old defenders.

you can but with the older player you get proven quality. not every young player turns out to be pique. at this club where people are impatient there is no time to wait on something that might not happen, this is why you buy proven superstars.

obviously get good young talents too, we should not be like madrid, but every top club is in the position to buy the best in the world and should do it.

It's a special circumstance and a deep necessity, but they better get their shit together. You can't be buying players for 30M when the year before the selling team bought the same player for 13M. It doesn't look good and makes the team look foolish and incompetent.
It's pure business, doesn't make a team look foolish in any way. Some clubs buy finished products, some rely on their home-made products or buy young talented players for peanuts. We are the latter but it wouldn't be foolish to buy a proven, great player, especially considering our current situation.

Yeah, like proven Ibra for 70m, proven Villa for 40m, proven Cesc for 36m, proven Hleb for 15m, proven Caceres for 16.5m. Thats 160m right there and none have managed to even get a fixed starting spot for us. All so-called proven players that would be low-risk and instantly improve our team we were told...

Its pure stupidity, considering he was already 26 a year ago when he went for 13m. Its not like he was some young talent that suddenly developed into a good player. We simply dont have scouts, thats the problem, so we piss away money like no other team does.

villa and ibra did improve the team. caceres was a young player. cesc is a failure to some and not to others, tbh the only real failure was hleb. he only cost 15 million.

Villa's goal in the 2011 final was alone worth 40m

Shame he was never the same after his injury. Nonetheless even in his last season he was better than Pedro and Alexis yet he was treated like trash by Tito.

And blaming Ibra due to his price tag is idiotic. That's on pep.

Alexis needs 20 shots to score 1 Goal.
Iniesta needs 50 shots to score 1 Goal.
Messi is not interested in football anymore.
Busquets can't shoot or score.
Mascherano can't shoot or score.
Basically, the only dangerous player in that formation is Fabregas.

And if he is our key man who should score Goals, then this is the end.

Now, actually, this season he needed exactly 3,4736842105 shots to score a goal.

True.

Roma, Porto, Ajax and "smaller" clubs can afford to buy 5 players with potentials for 10+10+10+10+10 Millions each and then wait and see how will they develop.
If a player will be a flop, they will resell him for 5M.
But always 2 out 5 players will turn out to be like Benatia, and they will earn +15 or +20 Millions after one Season.

Barce can't afford that.
We can't go out and play a gamble with unproven players.
Because we always need results right now.

Roma/Ajax can play a gamble. If they win something=awesome.
If not=they earned money, so they will try to get results in the next year.

This is why our board will always look stupid. (Even though they are stupid currently)

22 year old was just an example. A could have said 24 year old or 25 year old. The point is that if any player close to 30 get a serious injury, he is basically finished and we release him on a free transfer. That is not the case for younger players.

Actually, Madrid bought Marcelo for 6m, Varane for 10m, Higuain for 12m, Ozil for 14m etc. Its true they bought Ramos for 28m but he has been playing with them for close to 10 years. Its not like they splash out 40-50m on 29 year olds.

Barcelona scouts have watched Toulouse right back and Ivory Coast international Serge Aurier (21) several times this season. [md]

Ok, let's count:

9 out of his 21 Goals were tap-ins even without a Goalkeeper infront of him.
Remove those 9 Goals, his shooting accuracy stats looks much worse then.

Also, add Champions league where he never scores.
