He hasn't because he doesn't play in an advanced midfield role. Ideally you'd want Messi to play the #10 role in a dynamic 4-2-3-1, or as one of the wide forwards in a 4-3-2-1.

Firstly he is a lb and signs for Udinese. Nothing to do with cuadrado at all when la viola has or will buy the other 50% of his rights from udinese
