Bayern München

Barca 2.0. Will be amazing to see how they will react to serious teams that park the bus and counter. Maybe they will switch to countering as well?

Parked buses shouldn't be a problem since they have tall players and are good in the air.

A team that could mix good technique with physical strength, could easily become the best team ever.

i always felt that barca were good ( when they were the best) but there was no physical strengh.
What team could beat barca ( from being the best)? if not a team that could have good technique ( just like barca) but could add muscle to the equation?
I have nothing to prove it, but i called this even when Barca were the best team (b.c they always struggled against physical teams alittle).

IMO Bayern is currently really..really really superior to Barca and they have some of the best young players in the world and there are more to come. Their economy is tbh the best in the world and when we meet next season in the CL, I think that they will beat us. Sad to say and yes I'm a Barca fan and yes I try to be optimistic but just look at that team...

They look so fresh, so motivated.. But superior to Barcelona? Sorry, no

And how are you so sure about it?From the moment they dominated us tottaly in Munich and in Camp nou...You're about to say that we didnt have a fit Messi, but the fact is that Bayern isnt a team that depends on one player. They have many players that can stand out, many different type of players in their squad, most notably physically strong players which you can't see here.

You can't say that our team just needs a CB and will be on the top again..

Yes Bayern is currently the best team in the world. But they have to do a lot more, at the very least some consecutive winning records to show that they are the best team ever. They are still very beatable though, BVB and Real Madrid can beat them on counters.

Enough with singing them high praises please.

We have better players than Bayern, we just are not getting the most out of them and our team is younger. With a new coach with new ideas and a couple of new defenders we will be back on top. I see no reason why that can't happen this season.

Well said. If we play to our best, injury free and the players actually put effort in we are more than capable of beating them. Especially with the arrival of Neymar. If a new centre back arrives I'd be surprised if we don't beat them actually.

I hope we get them next season, victory would be so sweet.

I don't think it is that simple. In my opinion only 4 of our players are "better players" overall: Messi, Iniesta, Busquets and perhaps Xavi (if he is in form). All the other players of ours are not necessarily better than Bayern's players. Also, Bayern players are much taller and more physical. And even with better players, it requires the right tactics to win.

I feel that our biggest issue right now, a CB/defense aside is the total abence of our pressing game that was once our trademark. Coupling with an aging Xavi, our midfield is no longer dominant, the tiki-taka is much less prevalent and effective.

Because we were dominant for so long, other teams such as Bayern had us all figured out. We should pick up our signature pressing game and perhaps adopt some new ideas and tactics (for example utilizing the two wings more effectively) in order to come up on top again.

The teams are pretty much even except Messi and Iniesta are so much better than any Bayern player, which gives us an edge as you cannot stop genius for long. Busquets would be next best and although Xavi did not have his best season he still plenty left in the tank and I would have him over any Bayern player in a one off game.

Overall we have better players, they are greater than the sum of their parts, we are not right now and that is our problem.

We have Neymar, but they have Thiago

Can you guys imagine how epic it would be if Xavi was back in his best form and dominated a midfield trio of Schweinsteiger, Thiago and Martinez?

Barca 2.0?! Jeez. Have some respect for Bayern, mate. Even prior to Pep's signing, Bayern was already a possession-based team.

Their players are overall much better, whether ours are "at their best" or not is unreliable and doesn't matter. Added to that they have much more balance in the squad and youth. If we were to be superior to them in any way right now it would be simply having Messi. Even Iniesta doesn't give us some massive edge that they don't have. Right now Bayern are a far superior side and accepting that is the first step to moving forward and improving. You have to respect their team and what they are doing, personnel-wise and tactically we simply do not compare right now. We'd keep going into a bottomless decline if everyone in the club had the mentality of "We are still the very best and only need a CB to win the CL again". It's really arrogant and ignorant to think that way, not to mention it overlooks several issues and would get us nowhere.

Before people start calling me a "pessimist" or a "bad fan", which would you rather have the club be? Accepting that they are no longer the best and working to improve on flaws? Or blindly glorifying the current team with no basis and lacking the edge to become better?
