Again not impressed with Tuchel despite the win, which is very nice and possibly the only piece of good news today.

BVB let Bayern dominate them toward the end of the first half, hanging by a thread and Tuchel made no adjustment during the break, they could have and should have held on to the ball, slow the pace down, instead they just chose to kick the ball away every time BVB had the ball, only to be fed to Bayern players who would then start another round of attack. Overall a pretty boring game, the 0:0 game between the two last season was much more exciting to watch in comparison.

Bayern didn't do much better either with very few clear chances (their best chance was the Alonso long shot that hit the post). Sure Bayern was missing Robben, Vidal and Coman, but I felt their game play is no longer as fluid as before.

Probably because they were founded in 2009 and were still in 2nd division last season.

Wouldn't be the first time someone from the second division immediately won the Bundesliga after gaining promotion. Kaiserslautern comes to mind. 1998 I think it was.

They have a big advantage in not being in any European competition, and they're already out of the German cup, too. They can concentrate fully on the league. It's early in the season of course, but Bayern are clearly having problems and Leipzig have a great young team, impressive depth and Hasenhüttl seems to be a great coach (impressed with Ingolstadt last season, a team that was newly promoted too - they were nowhere near good enough on paper for the first division and still finished 11th). Having Ralf Rangnick as a sporting director doesn't hurt.

After two back surgeries and over twelve months of rehab he called it a career because the pain wouldn't go away and didn't allow him anymore to compete at the highest level.
