He does not only see the space - he often triggers it or shows his teammates where to pass so that the opportunity arises. Like with Tolissos goal - he showed Sabitzer to put the ball into the space behind him when he ran inside and drew the fullback with him.
He does not just assist Lewy. This season only about a quarter of his assists go to Lewy. His "assisting" to Lewy is not just the passes but often his positional play or movement - the opponents just do not have to take care only of Lewy - what is difficult enough - but there is that M?ller dude with his smartness, too. And then there is the dribblers, too - Bayern has the most successful dribblings in the top 5 leagues even if it is not a speciality of their no. 9 and 25.
Only Messi has more league assists (180) than M?ller has (150) since his debut in 2008. If you take matchtime M?ller has one every 202 minutes, Messi every 212. (I do not want to make a M?ller-Messi comparison especially as Messi has a lot more goals than assists and M?ller more assists than goals atleast in the league - it is differently in Cup competition)
Nice post but have to say Mueller looks often where Lewa stands and then pass to him, he likes to see him scoring a goal.
