Camp Nou

Number of stadiums in Spain have this issue. Might be a design trend from that era.

I think it's related to height. 3 large tiers stadiums not having this design need to have huge height. Not having this and having 105k seats... insane height of the entire structure. Probably pushes the 3rd tier places on the upper section far higher.

I think on Camp Nou the entire 1st tier is sunken. Only 2nd tier, vip ring tier, and 3rd tier generate height above the entrance in the stadium.

That's true.

Old Madrigal and Castalia for example are 2 tier and unprotected from rain but uses tier 2 to protect lower tier from rain. Further back obscuring view.

Iirc Mestalla lower tier is same.

I haven't been in Vilamarin for years but I believe it's same there too.

I like the vip rings placement under Laporta's changes. It works because the first section is low and not steep at all as it goes underneath the main 2nd tier which is the biggest. So, even though technically the vip ring is between 2nd and 3rd tier, due to the layout of the first ring... it is still low enough for an amazing panoramic view.

There was no need to demolish the first 2 tiers. They are perfect as they were, just degraded in time.
The first is not ideal, as mentioned, it has a low visibility that was not fully adressed. I like the overhangs and they give more intimacy and space to enjoy the game without the madness of the whole stadium, if you want that, but the gradiant is killing the show in the last rows.
The new 3'd stand is more tall and far from the pitch due to the VIP rings and not overhanhing and breaks the cake like wall of seats that made the Camp Nou so beautiful. So I will remain a fan of the old estetics.

I couldn't care less how it looks l.

I only care how it sounds.

No point having a beautiful stadium if it sounds like Montjuic every week.

Hopefully they have done everything possible to improve acoustics.

And make sure you have a fully sold out singing section.

BUY singing fans if you have to, like Uncle Flo does with those white shirt wearing freaks in the Bernatoiletbowl. :papaperez:

Haha can't do much about acoustics if there isn't noise to begin with 😅

On another note, just got back from watching CE Europa Vs Español B , some good old fourth division football. Solid atmosphere at the game , almost 3600 at the stadium, good fun. Can't wait to for the Camp Nou to be ready again!
