Not quite, it's an old illustration. We don't see the two VIP rings in this picture and the roof will be bigger with a smaller gap in the middle. Also the third stand won't be as big as in the picture due to the vip rings.

Are there any realistic renders of how it may look now?

That's how it will look? Damn... Soo beautiful. Think next season might be a magical one, if not this. With the packed seats and Flick's football in free flow with some new players on the pitch, just makes you so excited.
No that is the project presented in 2014-15. In that project some 10k season ticket holders were to be moved up to the third tier and replaced with VIP seats. Laporta threw that project in the trash can and made a new one with VIP seats in between 2nd and 3rd tier, in that way not moving any season ticket holders in 1st and 2nd tier.

Because they hardly ever sold out the old 81k capacity stadium. Even when they had BBC going all guns blazing they never managed to sell out the stadium even for Classicos or UCL semis and quarter finals.

Attendance was always around the 77k - 79k mark for their biggest games.

The desire is just not there.
It is way more complicated that this, Real Madrid has thousands of people on a waiting list to buy a membership and a season ticket, they could easily sell 90-100k season tickets if they were available. All season tickets are always sold out, the remaining tickets available are extremely expensive even for shit matches against bottom teams in la liga. In Spain in general, all big teams sell out all their season tickest every season and all teams have long waiting lists to buy season tickets. Here you can read about Real Sociedad, they average 32726 in a stadium with over 40k seats and still have a waiting list of some 4882 people that want to buy a season ticket.

In Spain unlike with many clubs in England, Italy and Germany, average attendance in calculated from how many person go inside the stadium every game and not how many season tickets are sold. It is not uncommon for season ticket holders in Spain to only show up in select games, FC Barcelona for example has over 10k season ticket holders living in Girona region, most of them simply do not go to games at 10pm because there are no public transport options available after midnight to Girona.

Here is another one for Athletic Club, the stadium has 53.289 seats, season ticket holders are 43.649, the waiting list is 3000 people long and the only way to get on the list is to be a club member for 25 years or have a family member with 25 years of membership put you on the list.

FC Sevilla has over 10k on the waiting list, Real Betis 12k on the waiting list, Valencia over 5k on the waiting list and may other clubs have thousands on the wating ist to get a season ticket.
