He was terrible last season but this season he has probably been our second best player.

If I were a stat geek, then sure...but seeing that anyone who actually watched could see he was like a lost lamb out there in the 2nd half of the season

No he wasn't. He was great for the first half of the season, then had a mediocre second half. By Barca standards. Not terrible. Some teams would kill to have a midfielder score 15 goals and provide 20 assists in a season, let alone half a season.
