Another historic digression on the Cesc thread ;)

Working hard but struggling. I also find him slow when possession needs to be redistributed

I am really bored with this Cesc saga. Nothing even Messi is not important than FC Barcelona. And this team has an amazing generation nowadays. Having Xavi, İniesta and Messi (all of them are top 10 all time footballers) together in the same team is a chance which can occur in a 30 years cycle. Once upon a time Milan had this chance. Now, it is our turn. And our management is fucking this generation by making experiments.

Barca do not need Cesc. Barca did not need Cesc. Barca will not need Cesc until İniesta or Messi retire. So why are we trying to integrate him to the team.

The strategy should be simple. Core is Messi-Xavi-İniesta. Let's find suitable players around them. If we need Neymar, let's buy. If we need Falcao, let's buy. If we need Bale, let's buy. If we need Thiago Silva, let's buy. (I do not say that let's buy all of them)

But our management buys Cesc, Alexis, Song, Mascherano. All of them are experiments. Actually all of them are because of Pep. In the last year, he try to innovate. However, we already were perfect. All we need was a world class DC (Thiago Silva), a world class finisher (Aguero or Falcao).

And based on that, Özil is better than Fabregas... excellent :D

Fabregas did pretty well last season which was his 1st. He did drop in 2nd part of the season, but all in all he did pretty well with loads of goals and assists. And it sure as hell is not Fabregas fault that Barca lost some titles last year. I'd say it has more to do with incapability to adjust to the opponent, situation and current score.

All of the players you mentioned are awesome top notch players. It is not their fault that Barcelona buy them just to play them out of position or ask them to do something theyre not so good at.

Ozil needs space too. Every time he has a direct duel with Busquets, Sergio comes away with the ball and Ozil is on the ground asking for a freekick. With the national teams its even worse because off the double pivot. The only reason that Ozil is making an impact in Clasico's these days after about 2 seasons of nothing is that he drifts out to the right wing to get away from busi. As it happens Sergio can only deal with so many players at once by himself. Watch the next game Germany play Spain and Ozil will be just as invisible as he used to be. He hasnt had a big moment for Barca yet but one of these players has been making decisive contributions in World cup and Euro finals, quarter finals and semi finals while the other had been nullified by even Italy when it matters most.

I know exactly what you're talking about. But recently, Ozil has the beating of Busquets as well when he comes to cover Ozil on the wings. Watch the matches closer. He's becoming more and more influential in Clasicos. He already has given 6 assists in the last year and since the Copa Del Rey match in Jan 2012 has only had 1 bad clasico (supercup 1st leg). Who cares if he has to go the wing to have a good game? That's like saying Iniesta is a failure because he can't play on the wings vs big teams. It's more to Ozil's credit that he can affect games from multiple positions.

Keep in mind that Barca has won 1! of the last 8 Clasicos. The times of Busquets owning Ozil are gone. Also, Ozil has played just once vs Spain - and tell me which opposition AM doesn't get nullified by Spain. I bet Fabregas would fare no better.

He didn't get nullified by Italy. He played well in that semi. Infact, if we're to believe whoscored, he was the MOTM. You know who else gets nullified by Italian teams? Lionel Messi. 0 goals from open play in 11 games. Doesn't actually mean much. There are tons of teams that have nullified Fabregas.

Anyway, Ozil was one of the best players of Euro 2012 and definitely my favorite player of World Cup 2010.

The fact that Barca were shit in recent Clásicos doesn't mean Ozil has been owning Busquets. In fact, Ozil has had very little impact in the Clásicos compared to other players like Cristiano.

Ozil is an incredible footballer. Love Cesc (one of my top 3 fav players in the past few years) but saying Ozil isn't 1/4 as good as him better be a joke :lol:

That's true but it's also because Barca crowd the centre and attacking Barca on the wings is the logical thing to do. The fact that he can split defences open from the wing and also provide great crosses is just more reason to put him there.
