Well this is sad. Instead of being happy for your team some of you rush in the thread of a player that didn't even play. Only to make petty cynical posts.
Shameful.
It's funny how you all jump his bones after tonight's game, when he's really been one of the players who's had a lot to do with our outstanding La Liga season.
Anyways.... I agree with what's been said. Xavi and Iniesta should be the standard midfield, and Fabregas rotated with either of them. Xavi should not be playing as much as he is, so it's the perfect combination.
All that Cesc has done for Barça this season has been forgotten. Sad
Exactly. Exactly. Exactly.
Cesc has been GREAT for us this year and has shown his immense potential. He got injured, and has been slightly off form as of late (as has HALF of our team, including Xavi). That by no means makes him a flop or means that he does not have much to contribute to our success now and in the future (especially).
I will say that yes Cesc has not performed as well in big games. But I somewhat chalk this up to him not having as much experience in such high-pressure games as the rest. Xavi and Iniesta have won a world cup and 2 euro's between them as well as two champions leagues. Yes Cesc was on those Euro and World Cup teams and did play important roles in those competitions as well. However I still think overall Xavi and Iniesta are older and have much more big game experience than Fabregas, so it is expected that they perform better in the big time, especially while playing the Barcelona way.
I say give Cesc time, and stop jumping on him whenever he dips in form, accusing him of not fitting in and not being able to make it here. When Xavi retires and Cesc matures for a few more years he will be the fucking man, I'm telling you guys now.
Just a reminder of what he's done for us this season. Not saying that he would have been a better choice in today's game or that he should make our primary 11 now, but let's not get carried away with the ridiculous commentary and keep it positive about those who DID play tonight.
That said I DO agree with this:
You can't deny that we are much much more fluid when we field the classic midfield of Xavi-Iniesta-Busquets, basically Cesc starting today would have meant him taking Iniesta's position, would he have been able to top Iniesta's performance today, no way? Cesc really has been poor of late, but Tito knows how to use him in certain scenarios.
