I couldn't help but laugh at his yellow card... Actually I was expecting him to laugh too or something because that was hilarious...

Hahaha, and he then goes and spanks the ref, I didn't notice that watching the game... He surely was laughing to himself, hahaha...

Thats a nice little cameo. Notice hes almost to 80 caps. Would be closer to 90 if it wasn't for that year he had all of those injuries with Arsenal.

Is Cesc overweight?

Since Cesc re-signed for Barca he seems to have lost a yard of pace.

I recently re-watched the 2010 world cup final, (Spain vs Netherlands) and Cesc looked svelte and nimble. But now, especially this season, he appears slow and ponderous.

I don't know if he has been spending too much time in the gym, but whatever he's done, it has not helped his game.

I'd like to know what you guys think?

He is most definitely not overweight. He lost a load of weight the start of this season.

He has more defensive responsibilities than before, and is constantly having to think about his position now. When he's comfortable enough to express himself on the pitch, I think the old Cesc will return.

He had freedom at Arsenal and was very much a focal point who initiated attacks without worrying much about tracking back or pressing, he's not getting the freedom to roam here so he's struggling (especially in the big games where his defeciences are exposed more), kind of similar to Modric who was probably Tottenham's best player but atleast Modric has never been a regular starter at Madrid as Ozil and Alonso (when healthy ) will almost always be favoured over him.

Cesc looks to be having another season where the first half is great yet he's horrible in the 2nd... I hope this doesn't continue for long

I also think (as Kerrybai hinted at) that Cesc (and Thiago) need at least one of the trident (Busquets, Iniesta & most of all Xavi) next to them. Lack of Puyol to lead the team is also a big absence. Not making excuses for Cesc's poor game.

I dont think any of the 3 in midfield lack the talent as such but it's very hard to create chemistry when you rarely play together. When Iniesta came on Cesc looked better. almost like he had the freedom to push forward.

Can we loan him to Arsenal every January? The guy again is a shell of himself in the first half of the season. A repeat of last season !

My only wish is that he is kept far away from the game in Paris

Hi, its me..
certainly one of the 3 needs to play at all times, we dont control the game half as well otherwise. Although ironically if busquets hadnt given the ball away or just let it run out, would have been a win tonight.

It's a bad idea to sub players off in the dying minutes to secure a win, we did that already a couple of times this season and conceded (e.g. against Sociedad). It doesn't give any defensive stability.
