it's way below 1%.

whoever worked out that percentage obviously didn't take into account the restrictions on which clubs could be drawn against each other, there is no way the odds of it happening twice are as low as 1 percent, those maths are way off the mark ................

i don't understand what your moaning about, if arsenal were not good enough to get past milan last season do you really think they would of had enough to get past madrid or barcelona, arsenal were never going to win it last season no matter what the draw was, you cannot expect to get to the final without having to face a single good team on the way...........................

It's not about winning it, it's about getting past the round of 16.

Are those numbers taking into consideration the teams that cannot face each other on this stage?

Someone calculated this correctly.

the theory of probability was not counted teams from the same country as well as from the same opening act can not play each other. If these factors are taken the chances would be (still very implausible) 2.03%

Anyone who thinks this draw was fixed has serious issues. Why the hell would UEFA want one of Madrid and Man United to be knocked out in the second round? They are arguably the two most popular teams in the world.

This is a draw!! Strong teams are going to play each other, what do you expect??? I honestly despise this generation's football fans. Please do yourselves a favor and go learn some history and watch the draws from the years past and see how strong teams faced off all the time.

In Copa, Barca/RM in the semis is no sure thing. I think RM will survive this round, but they way RM is going Valencia has a decent chance of knocking them out. Based on their CL play, Malaga has to have some chance to knock out Barca. Then in the final, I think on a good day Athletico can beat any team.

The only CL second place team that had a decent chance of knocking out Barca was RM. Since that matchup was not precluded, the next worst would have been Shaktar, because of the weather and travel.

RM gets punished for not winning their group, Man U is one of the strongest teams in the tournament. RM can beat anyone, but this year they are flat so often they are impossible to predict.

I'm really looking forward to CL round of 16, lots of fantastic matchups.

it is not that far fetched at all that the test draw and final draw were the same when you take into account that there were 4 spanish teams in the draw who couldn't face each other, two english clubs that couldn't face each other, etc, the number of potential outcomes was pretty limited when you take those restrictions into account............
i think we agree with each other..
