While it is always beautiful seeing Real Madrid lose, I'm actually pretty satisfied with how this Atalanta game unfolded.

Madrid was, as expected, badly outplayed on all metrics and, purely looking at the game and history of the two clubs, somebody would probably think Real Madrid was the club wearing the black and blue jerseys.

They managed to grind out a result and I think it's good because if Real faces an earlier elimination from UCL than us, they will become much more dangerous in the league. So this is a good result.

By the way, we are fucking lucky Atalanta is gameweek 8 in the UCL and will have very little meaning for us. They are a fantastic team and obviously on a much bigger level than the likes of Madrid or Bayern.

I hope Retegui doesn't get too hurt by the miss. Think Gasperini was a little too late with his sub. That Belgian fraud CDK is probably among the most overrated players in the world, virtually useless outside of the penalty.

I'll be massively disappointed if we lose against this technically limited Atalanta and weak Dirtmund because of Flicks tactics or some clown fucking it up again.
Absolutely no shame if we lose against the best team in Serie A, in a game with very little meaning considering we will probably have top 8 secured by then.

Brest have a big opportunity to get the top 8 automatic qualification before match day 8 vs Real Madrid. Victory at Shakhtar for them would probably seal it.

@Maradona37

There was someone (think it was you?) that posted here an image with the projected path to the final with all the pairings
Can't find it.
Do you have it by any chance?
Hi mate

think it was @Rassvet, he was right that the draw is mostly predetermined to ensure higher teams generally meet lower teams, here's more of how it will work apparently

Edit ,found it, is is on page 90.

Anyway, changed Sporting to a loss and got an exact. Backing the two Italian teams (Inter and Atalanta) cost me. Still got 5/9 though and green arrows.

Lol yeah some will claim it was silly to back Atalanta with the security of hindsight, but - as with the Celtic game the Bergamo team played - it seems that Atalanta were well on top and if you played that game 10 times they'd win a lot of them (just surmising as I was unable to watch the game). It's just taking chances, which to be fair is one of the hardest things in the game. I seen the goals and the second and third Real Madrid goals were total errors from defenders and goalkeeper. First was a beautiful take by Mbappe, though.

Like you say considering you watched it, Real ground out a result based on reputation and experience.

I agree with you that Atalanta are a great team. Some people can't understand that though as they're not an 'elite' club and not filled with superstars. Some people think only traditionally huge clubs can be great teams. They see guys like Bellingham and Mbappe playing against guys like Lookman and Ruggeri and think it should be 'easy' for the bigger name players - doesn't work that way.

It's about how a coach gets his players (and they are good players for the most part) gelling together in a system.

Ultimately Atalanta were a sitter away from a draw. That's the fine margins, so it's a little disingenuous acting like they had no chance after the event.

Yeah I think Inter will win in Germany. Just a feeling. They're a solid outfit and I rate Serie A as better than Bundesliga. I'm not convinced by Leverkusen, might be wrong tho.

....

Dont underrate german teams at home, the fans are incredible and pushing the team forward, usually much better than at away games

And imo Serie A is definitely worse than Bundesliga, its an very exciting league but the quality dropped massively
