Seems like the new format increases the possibility of teams losing/drawing games on purpose? Like it happens in international tournaments.
It only does because bracket is predetermined
We knew from starters the top2 are split into each half so on and so on
Was always 'rigged' to favour teams more likely to finish higher ensuring they are more unlikely to meet each other until later in the comp
The only reason people find this here and now quite attractive is because some teams are clearly underperforming and fallen into 9-16th rather than top8
And because it's genuinely tough to see how the entire table of 24 will look while 6th week of CL would normally be dead rubber games
And you're often going to get that, richest teams won't always play to standard. Just that the format is basically going to be a bore with uncertainty that goes with draw element removed as the rich teams have been pining for
It isn't 'easier to predict' in the sense that there are still lots of permutations.
But it also is because Bayern know what result they need to be more likely to avoid meeting Liverpool or Barca. It's still a dice roll given its not just dependent on them but those around them, but let's face it, how likely is it that RM isn't gonna beat Brest or Atleti/Bayer/BVB/Milan not going for a win to secure top8 lol
