Personally think their squad isn't good enough no matter if its August, December or April. Not enough creativity in midfield, defence is shockingly thin.

More likely to see a 18/19 Madrid in a knockout than the miracles of 2022 or the grit of 2024.

Who are their possible opponents in Last 16?

If you play against this Madrid right, you can dismount them with ease. It's important to score 2-3 ASAP to demoralize them. If you come into the last 15 minutes level or with 1 goal lead, they'll bring on Modrić, assume control and score at least one.

Fast transition is key as they have no midfield while their defense is chaotic at times.

How is PSG suddenly a candidate after barely reaching top 24? Because Dembele scored hattricks against some retarded french farmers?

They play good and convincing football but never the candidates for me until they truly prove against a world class side. Even against this terrible City had to make a comeback. Not to speak of how they got fucked by likes of Arsenal, Bayern before that.

Take their CL history to the equation as well. They never won this competition and such things gain importance in later stages of this competition. If they play Madrid in semis or finals, no matter if they are better or not, Madrid will always be the favourite for me

I’d say PSG more of a dangerous opponent for us rather than a top contender to win the whole thing.

We don’t have a good start and things get ugly.

Ultimately I just don't think beating Madrid should be seen as the yardstick for winning the competition this year.

Last couple years it was clear from the get go City or Madrid were the teams to beat. This year, it means very little and the next opponent requires just as much respect and concentration.

PSG are legit top 6-8 side though.

It's amazing how City can spend so much and play so bad btw.

240m+ spent in season and not one player is ready to step into the 11. I know most of that is winter spending but bar Marmoush there is no one who you would expect to make a major impact right now.

290m spent last summer and only one of them steps into the 11 (Gvardiol).

Over the past 3 seasons they have spent 700m and only Gvardiol and Haaland improve their 11. I know they also sell decently being inside the UK and having the financial incentives for domestic trading, but that is shockingly ridiculous expenditure.

Didn't see anything impressive. Madrid's defense is still full of holes and City is in its weakest form since Pep started there. We would have punished Madrid defense much more than City did today.

100% Pep is not mentally in a good place. Scratching his head so much he's making it bleed on the touchline, constantly spitting. Obviously his private life is in the paper's as well.
Imo:

1. true, divorce is surely a strong reason for his problems

2. but also, he is a man who was hailed as the greatest coach ever, the innovator, the genius.
And suddenly, his football is falling apart, nothing is working, the opponents have figured them out, he is breaking negative records with City and is making some weird panic-buys in January.

Imo, it is a huge mental blow: he was on top for years and now the magic is gone.

Especially when you add to the story:
1. he started at Barca with a GOAT Messi and had a cycle for 4 years

2. then he moved to CL winners Bayern and had a cycle for 3 years

3. now he is already at City for 9 seasons and things are falling apart

But, the problems regarding his future are:
1. he has never stayed in one club for so long to build "a new cycle" or the 2nd generation of players.
He always comes, builds a team, wins and leaves.
He never dealt with rebuilding and having to sell the original players from the 1st cycle, like De Bruyne, Bernardo and similar.

So, there is a question: can he rebuild a team? He has never done it till now.

So, if he stays at City = he is in problems.

2. if he leaves, where will he go?
Barca = been there
Bayern = been there
City = been there

It doesn't make sense to go to any other EPL team.
Seria A teams are not rich, he can't win CLs there, so the only other options are Psg and Real.
Real is not an option due to his Barca's ties.

So, when you sum it all, in terms of domination and CL titles, deep down he knows that he is stuck with City.
Yet his football has bern figured out in EPL and his team is old and needs a fresh blood and rebuilding, which he has never done in his career.

So, in terms of domination and CL trophies, his future seems quite questionable.
And that is surely eating him alive.

He is not used to being mediocre.

They hit a purple patch, it could be all over in a months time like Xaviball patches. I expect they will get brought back to reality, especially if they play Liverpool.

But on current form they look quite the team.

Say they play Leverkusen. You trust a Bundesliga team to knock them out? I don't.

PSG is standing out more than few months back as their midfield are ticking and they have raw pace up top that on its day can be handful for anyone.

Rodri was the coach on the pitch.

When Pep got to training, he said to Rodri "you take over, I have to whatsapp with my wife" and disappeared for the afternoon.
