I respected ManU a lot, but after their shameful performance at Camp Nou last year I want to beat them. They're not as bad as Chelski though, they're absolute scum.
I just hope United won't play the "defending with 11 game" and hope for a counter attack.

Let me see , go to the Nou camp and open up and get beat by 2 goals or 3 and your out of the cup makes sense !!! nooooooooootttttt!!!!!!!!!!!

I visited the Nou camp 3 years ago and if it wasnt for a flight back the day before the Espanyol home game I would of completed my dream of watching them at the Nou Camp.

I was at that game! Great celebrations after, unbelievable night.
United in full flow are great to watch. I used to love watching them when Giggs and Kanchelskis would fly at defenders, but Fergie has gotten more canny in Europe lately.
Do you think he will play Ronaldo up front like he did against Arsenal?

Yeah he will start Ronaldo up front and I dont think Barca will be able to handle him if he is out wide he can be stopped but up front he has the pace to get in behind the defence.

I hope he has a one of his special games and we all know with Ronaldo he has the ability to score amazing long range goals so watch this space Barca.

the only way ronaldo is gonna score is if our gk makes a mistake...and thats very likely to happen :D

Our defense is held up by our attacking play though. The fact we have about 60+% of possession every game means our defense is rarely tested, and the pressure high up the pitch when we do lose it often leads to the opponents move breaking down before it gets to our back line. We park the bus in our own way, we park a couple of them on the half way line practically every game and pin the other team in their own half. Similar in concept really.

TBH I am getting sick of EMD and Sport, they go on about Pep no doubt having a plan for Rome that he is keeping secret for obvious reasons then the moment they get a sniff of it they release it all over their front pages, giving away Peps formation to our opponents and no doubt harming our chances. I highly doubt Ferguson would of considered Keita as a LB for us before, now however he is no doubt making contingencies. It's no doubt the same in England. The only tactics in football now seem to be how you keep your ideas hidden from the nosey press looking for a quick story.

I walk the line
Man utd without ronaldo does not equal chelsea. Sid lowe made a great comment the other week that man utd are more defensive than they realise. However they organise theirselves to defend and make use of the ball when they have it. Chelsea seem to organise themselves to defend and punt the ball upfield an if they get a lucky break then great. If not then they defend again. I watched chelsea alot under mourinho (i enjoyed watching the organisation of his team) and ive watched them a fair amount under scolari and hiddink. And not much has changed. However man utd on the other hand have evolved alot. They are definitely the one team in the league that balance defence and attack. Perhaps not in europe, but in the epl they can defend well, but they can also turn it on and completely demolish teams. Its why they've won three straight titles. U do not know which man utd will turn up. And their defence is too good for most teams, and so is their attack.

even though i agree with sid lowe,i think we do realise that ,not so much we're defensive, more that we've got a bunch of players who're prepared to do the things that lots of people might think they'd not be inclined to do,but they do for the good of the team, and it's chances.
isn't it earn the right to play by doing the ugly things too??

they also can,as you said,be flexible enough and/or good enough to go to the san siro and absolutely dominate inter and make a decent arsenal team look like "babies",to quote pat evra.(and that inter game........if we'd got 3 or 4 there it wouldn't have been an unfair reflection, and imo it was our best away performance in the cl since we beat a very very good deportivo 2-0)

i don't know if we will or should go toe to toe, hagler v hearns style with barca but i'd love to see it.
tbh i'm not expecting it,but i'm also not expecting us to deliberately play defensively either, because we just don't do that.

if barca keep the ball and press well enough to get it back quickly, then we're gonna have to defend and play counter attack, but if we play at our best, where virtually 5 of the front 6 are interchanging all the time, then it could be a brazil - italy 2-3 (1982) style goalfest, but without the veiny arms. ;)

something a bit like this would do nicely next week please.

Thats because your defence is crap

Woah, woah, woah. Sorry i gotta speak out against that too.
Were you the one that also said "have some respect"? When someone made a comment about United you didn't like? If so don't rise to the occasion yourself to make disrespectful comments. Be the bigger man.

Barca's defence is anything but crap, sure in the Champions League Final it's very makeshift but even with our full strength of defenders, (keep in mind we do have some very talented defenders) when all are fit and avaliable Barca will still not be seen parking busses on the goal line.

Barca have like X.A.U mentioned a "football philosophy" that the club and those associated with it don't want to see betrayed. That philosophy often puts more pressure on the defence at times because of the style of play and maybe forces them to concede more than they should, say if the exact same defensive partnerships were in the EPL sides instead of for Barca. But it is this philosophy that has produced football that has seen praise come from all over the world and something that only Barca with it's own unique system are capable of preforming, long may it continue.

I hope for a good game and also for Barca to come out with the win. While i respect Ferguson as a manager and as a fellow Scot, i want to see good football rewarded, i'm not from Catalonia but i love Barcelona and their players.

CORRECTION! :slap:

4 Clubs have won the EPL to date

Manchester United
Blackburn Rovers
Arsenal
Chelsea

My mistake. I thought that Blackburn won the last of the old Div 1, but I am obviously in error. So apart from the first season of the EPL only 3 teams have won it.
