Champions League Final 2009: FC Barcelona vs ManUtd: Champions of Europe!

Ferguson promising a nice open game which will lead to a goal fest in the final. Which translating the British managerial English into something we all can understand means "We'll park 10 men behind the ball and hope to hit lucky on the counter. I can see it being a 0-0 bore draw going into penalties"

United will play defensively. But that doesnt mean that all he will do is defend. I think it will be a great match because you will see two teams, one which is more tactical (or should that be efficient) and one which is more beautiful, but i cant see one philosophy completely dominating the other. I dont think man utd will play like they did against us last season. Knock out stages are almost always different than the final.

Didn't Hiddink also expect an outstanding 2 legs, and was expected to go all-out attacking? Well I suppose outstanding 2 legs for us heh :2145960713mundoemot
But yeah, unlikely that Ferguson won't be a chicken and do what he did last time around.

This time it is the CL final! It is not at camp nou were all people supported barca. but if united get an early goal, sir alex would probably make everyone defend.

Here is my view of the game:

Barca, will play a side that is a bit weak on it's defensive area due to the fact of Alves, Militto, Marquez, and Abidal being missing. Valdes will be on goal, and i have to admit he has been doing good recently... Yaya Toure will play on right back, or maybe center back and puyol go right back, pique is the other center back, and most surprisingly Sylvinho on Left-Back... As for midfield, employing Yaya toure on defense, will make the need for another DM to do his original job, so either Busquets go in for him, which I doubt cause it's a Champions League final, and he hasn't much experience, so maybe Keita will convert for this game to DM..... As usual, the Deadly Combination Xavi and Iniesta will architect the midfield, and Messi and Henry on the wings, with Eto'o as striker....
Barcelona will not defend for their lives, it's man utd who have to be careful, cause Barca is better on attack while man utd have the defensive and goalkeeping edge in the game.

As for Man Utd, Edwin Van Der sar will be on goal, As for Right-Back, it has been confirmed that neither Captain Gary Neville or young brazilian Rafael da silva will start, it's John O'Shea, i dunno if ferdinand is back, so if he isn't either Wes Brown who recently came back from injury or Johnny Evans will play in the CB are alongside Vidic, and for left-back, the 2nd best in the world at that pos. Patrice Evra will start the game.
Darren Fletcher is suspended, and Owen Hargreaves is injured. So Maybe Carrick Scholes and Giggs will make up the midfield trio. And Attack Trio of Rooney Ronaldo and Berbatov/or Tevez.....

I Predict a 2-1 win from Barcelona, with Barca's goals coming from Iniesta and Eto'o, and man utd goal come from a ronaldo penalty which he dived to get as usual....

we'll dominate possession and look to break them down, united will defend deep and counterattack with pace. ronaldo will be CF so won't track back, rooney and park wide will track but will break forward at every opportunity and so will giggs. one of the fullbacks (evra probably) will join them.

I don't expect united to come out and try to outgun us. the last team that did that got beat 2-6 on their home ground.

we just don't get outgunned (unless we're playing in the vicente calderon, although pique wasn't playing that day and eto'o was in donkey mode, plus exception that proves the rule n' all that) so there's no reason to expect fergie will try to do so in the flipping final. he'll have them attack, counter and otherwise. it won't be like the semi-finals this or last year. even if united score first they'll still try to get a second - after all chelsea weren't that bothered and look what happened to them!

I understand Fergie is a bit of romantic when it comes to finals so hopefully he wouldn't play too cynical. Surely he has more faith in his team and himself than that. Being a cule I obviously hope we win but as a football fan I hope for a close game with a display of attacking talent from two extremely talented teams which would make this a final that would be remembered with fondness forever.

Only 7 days to go. I`d like to stress how proud I am and excited at the possibility to see Barca play in a Champions league final with a Catalan manager and with 7 Cantera players in first 11. I`d like to see any Premiership team win the league with home grown players. Heck, could they even qualify for the 4th spot?

When it comes to getting serious on introducing the 6+5, the top managers will have alot to say about it, especially Arsene Wenger if he is still there. English talent is good, but the ability and the way the game is played and individuals developed in countries such as Spain and Italy is so different.
