Dont think he is top class despite the CL wins.

He commands respect and more or less set up team in very basic way which worked when had some of best players in world.

Keeping it that simple and it working has to be credited but nothing like going in and building a side and setting them up and any impressive way tactically.

Doubt many top clubs are chasing Zidane as coach.

Yea, maybe this is the case. Maybe he is more of an astute manager of great players than a great manager period. Tbh, his tactics always seemed rigid and basic.

Spanish teams are done. Slow possession is shit.

The cycle is over. Barca started to build another cycle, and Madrid partly too, but don't think they got the builders right. Neither Zidane nor Koeman give me the vibe like they know what they are doing long term.

And Simeone is horrible outdated too.

Madrid's midfield today looked like EV-shitshow Rakitic - Busi - old Iniesta.

Spanish clubs aren't done, they just need better managers. Look at Chelsea under Tuchel compared to what they were under Lampard, huge difference. Barcelona and Real have got to stop bringing in club legends and instead try and hire a world class coach. Barca haven't hired a bona fide top coach since Van Gaal in 1997, it really annoys me, why spend 150 on Coutinho yet hire guys like Koeman to coach them.

The players in Real and Barca are old. New players + managers needed.

EXACTLY. but watch us hire Xavi in this desperate hope of finding another Pep thus this cycle will continue and we will fall further behind. The EPL has all the money, Barca/Madrid need to be smarter

Hiring a world class coach is easier said than done.

What world class coach should Barca appoint?

The top coaches want to be in EPL and thats where they are.

There's not exactly many World Class managers lining up to work for Barca or Real Madrid.

Unfortunately... all top managers now have jobs now . Let's hope Xavi is the real deal.

Securing a class manager is a project you start now knowing it will take maybe 1-2 years, and you set your goal and you jump at the chance when it comes. Class managers have maybe a few months where they are free, and usually the clubs they go at connected with them sooner.

I'd also like to say.....that Xavi might turn into someone like Flick or our Zidane....or a Pirlo.

You never know for sure, but there's no chance we hire a WC manager because there simply isn't one.

Our options are likely Xavi or taking a gamble on someone else like De Zerbi who's the Sassuolo manager.

Why would you take a gamble with De Zerbi, instead of taking a gamble with Xavi?

Xavi is inevitable, the only saving grace is he's young and not proven mediocrity yet. If that fails, Barca need to be spending some of their transfer budget on tempting a proven top manager.

Yea, basically the cards we've been dealt play itself now.

The only question is if Xavi comes now or in the summer of 2022.
