City should have won 4-1 today. I don't know why Pep detests number nines.
Vlahovich, Haaland, Haller... even Cavani would help bury some of those numerous chances they get.

Haha no they dont have to act like box to box midfielders but like all top sides they need to press and help track back.

Clear as day impacting their team negatively off the ball.

PSG got to CL final and semi final last couple seasons. Hardly 'EL' level.

Can see why Pep didnt want Messi in games like today. He wont run off the ball.

They did press and helped defensively. But they got dominated in midfield up to the point they couldn't keep hold of the ball for like 20 straight minutes.

They got a bit lucky with their CL runs in the past seasons.

All three midfielders are EL level to decent CL level, not elite.

If there was some truth to those rumors about Ronaldo at City, he fucked up by not going there .

for sure

Joining City after being a United 'legend' would of also played to his pantomime villain persona also, I'm guessing Ferguson being somewhat of a father figure swayed him

No they didnt.

That front three dont press consistently as a unit.

Anything that is seen as remote slight on Messi try to find excuses.

As said they did well enough in CL previous two seasons and with Veratti they looked same in last game v City.

Mbappe is the only one in CL it has been worth giving that up for so far.

Big reason they got dominated in midfield is that the three attackers were not bothered to apply pressure. Of course it would be far easier to keep the ball for Man City.

That's why they were losing possession instantly when on the ball? Because their forwards weren't pressing?

No excuse here. Messi presses the least. It is known since time immemorial.

They weren't losing the ball instantly in every situation. Often they kept it by passing it back all the way to the defense and Navas. Sometimes they organized counters successfully. The way PSG set up made it easy to pin them back in their half, and it is easier to press a team that is in its own half.

Come on man, it's clear that City forwards run their asses off in defense, while PSG offensive players walk. PSG is an old fashion galactico team where you have a clear separation between players that do the offensive phase and players that do the defensive phase. This leads to constant superiority for the team that involves more players in both phases.

The PSG model has been simply outdated and superseded by modern tactics where everybody does both phases. They are outworked easily. Now even the keepers are active assets in breaking the press and passing from the back.

You are wasting your time.

Guy is an idiot who doesn't get football or pretends not to just to suck Messi's dick

The only way to do this and MAYBE win would be to teleport Messi and Mbappe as Inzaghi/Shevchenko and Crespo for some 2003 Milan side with a back 4 of Kaladze, Maldini, Stam and Nesta. + Gatusso Ambrossini steel in midfield.

4-4-2, with Messi and Mbappe up top. Neymar would still have to disappear.
