I wonder which mid-table team Vinicius is going to end up at in 1-2 years time.

I'm going to go with Everton or Tottenham (when they inevitably decline to midtable under Mourinho lmao)

They don’t. You massively overrate them. Even some of the runners up from previous years would beat them

Folk look back with rose tinted spectacles.

Likes of Man Utd who got to two CL finals v Barca were not all that great a side.

This Liverpool side is better than that Man Utd team.

This forum severely underrates Liverpool. They have a very solid team. Alexander Arnold you could argue is just as solid as prime Dani Alves, their attacking trio is deadly, and van dijk is arguably better than prime Pique. They would still give pep 2011 Barca problems

I love TAA, but prime Dani Alves pisses over him. Maybe they're comparable in a few years, but there's no way TAA is as good as prime Alves. You must have forgotten the force of nature Alves was at his best.

Absurd really. Compare this current crop on display to the level of world football from 2005-2015 and it looks like a lower league altogether. Intensity, skill, talent, tactical nous; none of it is remotely comparable.

It looks like a different sport. Those dominant Chelsea, Barca, Madrid, United, Bayern and Milan sides of the last decades would walk the CL against the current competition, yes even Liverpool.

Agree.

2005-2006 Barca: Complete from top to bottom
2006-2007 Milan: Complete team from top to bottom, stacked with NT leaders and players
2007-2008 United: One of the best United sides ever
2008-2009 Barca: Arguably top 3 CL winning team
2009-2010 Inter: Would probably still beat current Pool
2010-2011 Barca: Arguably best ever
2011-2012 Chelsea: Could turn it up when it mattered
2012-2013 Bayern: Best Bayern ever
2013-2014 RM: 2nd best RM side of the modern era, one of the best in the competition's history
2014-2015 Barca: MSN Juggernaut, one of the best in the competition's history

Meanwhile these days we have bums like Firpo, Lenglet, Jesus, Vinicius, Mendy, Stones and so forth littering a 'heavyweight' CL tie.

Prime Alves was better on the ball and better defensively.

TAA is still young and has the better final ball and as good a range of passing as ever seen from full back.

By time TAA is finished there will not be much between them.

Yeah, that's why I said they might be comparable in a few years. Will be interesting to see how TAA does post-Klopp though.

Assuming he gets consistently better. Alaba looked locked on for best leftback in the world a few years ago. Dani Alves looked like an all time great fullback when he was still at Sevilla.

Geriatric teams don't do well in this competition, it seems.

Conceding 9 shots, 2 on target in 45 mins. De Ligt looking fraudulent.

Nothing. That's why he hasn't played whenever they contended for titles and consistently played 3 converted LBs ahead of him. Got little choice when he hasn't recruited a better player.

Always thought Grimaldo was gonna end up at City, especially with Pep's fondness for La Masia graduates still strong. Very surprised that this one hasn't happened (yet). Honestly thought it was gonna happen like 2 years ago, last summer at the latest.

I see it the same. Would give us a game but would still fancy us to beat this Liverpool side in similar fashion to the two United finals. Liverpool are basically like us under Pep, with weaker technique and less skilled individuals, especially in midfield. Speed, pressing, stamina, tactical cohesion, everything else is pretty much up there.

I disagree. MSN Barca, 2017 Madrid would beat them. But that's it in recent years.

09, 11 and 15 Barca, Madrid 17, Bayern 13, Inter 10 all beat them
