Most of the players weren't even signings that most top clubs would normally make

Neuer - 30m, been the best keeper in the world when he was signed, only United competed for his signing but they settled for De Gea
Davies- 10m, from an MLS team and wasn't even a leftback, Barca was interested but ruled him out because "a Canadian can't possibly be good"
Alaba - 0m, Youth Academy
Boateng - 13m, ManCity reject
Kimmich - 8m, signed from the 2nd division
Thiago - 25m, Barca reject
Goretzka - 0m, talented but almost noone showed any real interest
Gnabry - 8m, Arsenal and West Brom reject
M?ller - 0m, Youth Academy
Perisic - 5m Loan, Inter reject
Coman - 28m, Juve and PSG reject
Lewandowsi - 0m, worldclass at Dortmund, many clubs showed interest but noone really offered Bayerns wages.

With the exception of Lewandowski and Neuer even Wolverhampton could've gathered such a squad and at those prices especially. The Sane signing was probably the most out-of-character signing they made in years.

Probably the Lucas signing is more out of character and probably one they regret, but perhaps he'll come good

That is a lie about Barca ruling out Davies as Canadian. They were trying to sign him.

Thiago was not a 'reject' at all.

Goretzka would have had a lot of options.

Arsenal wanted to keep Gnabry so not a 'reject'

Signing those players for cheap is impressive enough without embelishing it with nonsense.

I don't know if that Canadian thing was a lie. That's what I heard so I wrote that down, in any way, even with clubs "trying to sign him" the only one actually serious about him were Bayern, same with Goretzka who had teams "interested" yet noone (except Arsenal) actually competed for him. Gnabry and Thiago were rejects in the sense that people knew they were talented, but their clubs simply undervalued their potential and ended up not playing them as much as the players wanted, so the players left. Thiago was literally on a conditional release clause that was lowered because he didn't hit a certain cap. Gnabry was deemed "not good enough" by Toni Pulis.

With the way Yannick is framing things, anyone who played for another club prior to Bayern is that club's reject. Which is true in the strictest sense of the word but circumstance/context must be factored in.

Regardless, good on you guys for winning the "we made a class team out of rejects" trophy as well.

Barca made a bid for Davies and were trying to sign him his agent has said that.

You have no idea who bid for likes of Goretzka or not.

Gnabry Arsenal wanted to keep and Thiago was not at all a reject and was behind best midfield ever and played a lot.

Just made up nonsense to try and make Bayern achievement better than it is.

That starting lineup is less than Griezmann cost. And he started on the bench

Absolute failure from top to bottom from our president and board.

Some of it is management but it's also a lot of luck.

We had Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Pique, Puyol at one point for a grant total of 0.00.

United Class of 92 cost 0.00.

When you start making those sorts of selective comparisons, Bayern looks shit because their academy hasn't produced THAT level of talent.

In general, Bayern are well-run and better run than Barca, who are more superstar driven, but we shouldn't read into their success more than it is.

I wonder if Bayern's bosses will bow down to his Royal Highness, The Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

After all The Emir is sponsoring their sleeves and has helped them establish a training base in Doha. What do you think Yannik?

Like I said, Bayern doesn't care as much about star names as other top clubs do.

Bayern is flavor of the month here as RM was when they were winning CLs and not getting bounced R of 16.

If PSG win, people will probably have them flavor of the month also.

Barca made a bid for Davies and were trying to sign him his agent has said that.

His agent said Barca wanted to sign him for Barca B.

Gnabry Arsenal wanted to keep and Thiago was not at all a reject and was behind best midfield ever and played a lot.

Arsenal said they "wanted to keep him", and they did so much to achieve that that they preferred Joel Campbell and Theo Walcott over him as their backup choices in the PL and loaned him to West Brom (where he was deemed a flop by Toni Pulis). No word said of "wanting to keep him" until he scored 4 vs Tottenham in 2019 and Arsene Wenger, the master of hindsight "could've would've signed/kept him" pos-match-comments mentioned how he always rated him.
How the fuck did Bremen even make a signing Arsenal had such high ambitious plans for.

Thiago literally had a release clause dropped for not playing an agreed cap. Sure Barca wanted to keep him as he was a brilliant squad player, but again it's a question of "yeah sucks a bit he gone, but if we really wanted to, he wouldn't have to". And who competed for that signing? ManUnited, noone else.

You have no idea who bid for likes of Goretzka or not.

Arsenal.

It's quite well documented with all sources in the Transfermarkt forums:

Liverpool: "Interested"
Barca: "Interested"
Arsenal: Actual contact
United: "Interested"
Juventus: "Interested"
City: "Interested"
Chelsea: "Interested"
Tottenham: "Interested"
Milan: "Interested"

All sources speak of "the player has been in the focus of" and "the player has attracted interests from". It's literally just the shoehorning of a talented player that's on everyones scouting list but noone really been serious enough to make a move, mostly done by the likes of SkySports and worse.

?Trying to sign him? means very little nowadays. Sometimes as little as a left message on the voicemail.

Exactly. And only Arsenal had anything close to a "saga" with Goretzka, and reports of agents discussing with Schalke and the player.
