And what should they do? Play an open game against MSN? Wenger is not the brightest tactician, but he's not an utter moron, you know. The very reason for the first Barca's goal was that they naively decided to show their shining light at the end and were swept away by predictable counter. Chelsea's tactics against recent Barca has shown the best track record to date.

Chelsea's tactics were augmented with a heavy element of luck plus inept finishing from Alexis and Cesc.

Arsenal played the wrong way and Wenger has only himself to blame. He should have pressed Barca and not played like a coward.

I am more than happy with the result but I wasn't convinced with our motivation and Messi in particular looked out of gas.

All things considered (our tight schedule/fatigue, playing away) this is a great win for Barca :)

I dunno, I thought Messi looked lively and keen to get involved in the game, but the way Arsenal were playing meant there was no space between the lines anywhere, and when Messi had the ball Arsenal done their best to double/triple up on him.

Overall good performance, just a bit concerned that we gave that many chances to a team like Arsenal. We also could have been more clinical.

Actually Neymar was good only by making a good part of the first goal. Horror decision making, could've assisted Suarez and Messi but chose to shoot and obviously miss...

Horror game, but I repeat, nobody did a fantastic job tonight bar Masche.

Neymar should have been more efficient in front of goal, but I would never say he had a horror-game...

I thought the entirety of our midfield done their job perfectly...Rakitic in particular seemed to be all over the pitch.

We still had like 71% of the ball so it's not like they weren't going to get chances at some point

You can have less than 25% of the possession and still not give away chances. Solid defensive work relies on reacting quickly and in a co-ordinated manner. Arsenal haven't got any 'world class' players, none of their forwards would make it into ours or Real Madrids starting line-up, but they still managed to create goal scoring chances out of very little. Ter Stegen had to make a few great saves.

They are still tough at home

They beat Bayern at home don't forget 2-0 so it's not like they can't create chances. Ozil is one of the best in the world at creating chances.

yep. thought about that myself in the 1st half. Pressing is the best option against Barça if your team isn't on our individual quality level. They seemed tired in the 2nd half. I would understand that if the played pressing game, but they were sitting back.

I'm afraid it's exactly the opposite, pressing is best for teams who are world class like Barca. If a team isn't on our quality level they will get absolutely humiliated if they press and leave space for our players. There's a reason we beat Rayo 4-0 every season, it's because they try to play their own game, and you're NEVER beating Barca that way, our midfield is just going to pass through you and our attack is going to thrive if allowed large amounts of space (today's goal for example).

Very, very happy about the result and I thought overall we played OK, not great, but OK considering how tired we are. The fatigue was so obvious that often we just couldn't keep up with their pace and when we had the ball we purposely slowed down the tempo.

And I must be one of very few who thought Arsenal played really well, given their quite a few chances that were either nullified thanks to MAtS or screwed up by themselves.

The game could have ended up 3:5 or something like that.

I disagree with the sentiment that Arsenal were poor and Wenger got it wrong. They actually pressed pretty high initially but it was only their front line and their was space between the back four and the midfield until they got back in their shape. This allowed us to slow the pace down and force them into our tempo while they burned themselves out in the 2nd half because they pressed so much.

The reason why we won is simple: we pass better than they do under pressure. They played really well tonight but that is the absolute best they can do against us and they really only created two good chances. Meanwhile we were only in 2nd gear and scored two goals while had Suarez been slightly sharper, it have been 4-0.

We will have a lot of chances to rest some players here and there, so while we do look tired, some good rotation should freshen the team up a bit and we can honestly afford to drop a game or two in La Liga, so if Lucho mixes rotation players with starters wisely for the next few games, we should be able to recouperate a bit and give players like Suarez, Busi and Iniesta some needed rest.

Excellent result, our march to perfection and the unbeaten steak continue! :barcascarf:
