The good part is that if we go through, United, Ajax, Porto and Tottenham are all accesible teams we would be favorites against.

I would rather face a good team. This team seems to play quite well this season vs the heavyweights, but struggles vs minions.

The recent results are actually the best thing that could have happened to the team and Valverde. Any possible trace, even the slightest, of potential complacency or not giving Lyon the sufficient respect, should be out of the window now. The return leg being played in 7 days time would make this week's results fresh in the players minds. Not to mention that we might be in for more freak results next Tuesday.

True but remember the Roma game? I was thinking about possible opponents in the semifinals because I was this certain about us going through just right after the draw. Less so after the 4-1 win at home, even though the result on paper was great but the play, attitude, tactics and result lied. Even less so after the first 20 minutes were played in Rome in the return leg.

Let us take one step at a time and one rival at a time. Lyon is next. Should we qualify we can think about all potential opponents as we will know all of them by Wednesday night. Not sure when the draw is but probably on Friday next week or the following Monday. Think they moved it to Monday's now if I am not wrong. Could be as I don't really recall it with certainty and don't bother looking it up.

It's going to sound really counter intuitive but maybe having scored 0 away goals could help us. This will could keep us on our toes for the whole game and if we had gotten an away goal, Lyon might play without fear and pressure like how Ajax and Man Utd did.

Yes, for sure. With 0-0 we can hardly talk about complacency. The team has to score in order to qualify. Unless wanting the penalty shoutout option which is Russian roulette on most fronts, really. Fun if you win but you lose at least a few months of your life due to the stress of it. Unless drunk of course.

After all the champions league upsets im feeling quite nervy for the game. If we defend like we did against real madrid we shouldnt have a problem.

The results in the past 2 days worry me.. Our squad members are the masters of complacency and have largely depended on opponents screwing up chances than us doing anything defensively (except the weekend game where they finally defended cohesively)... Hope the players and Valverde are up for it.. We have some pretty decent match up possibilities if we get through...

We lost 3-0 last year against Roma. If that is not the kick up the ass against complacency for this year, then nothing will be.

I prefer to look at these exits as a hell of an opportunity to actually win this thing this season. There is still City, Liverpool/Bayern and damn Simeone who both can beat us over 2 legs, but there is the opportunity to have a route to the final consisting of Porto then Ajax/Man U/Spurs. Crazy.

What calms me is that Lyon weren't very good in the first leg.

Madrid should have gotten warning signs in the first leg when they won even though Ajax were clearly better.

PSG thought they had it in the bag and didn't bother to attack too hard.

We are up for a CL home game where we'll have to attack. Those nights usually turn out to be special.

No need to worry. A 2-1 win in Lyon would've been more worrysome tbh. The team knows that they have to win in order to qualify for the next round and they will be motivated accordingly. Losing the first or a 0-0 is better than a comfortable win for this team. Like Copa vs. Sevilla. They were always better in answering after a loss than managing a lead. As sick as it sounds

Lyon scores in the first 5min.
We panic and try to create something for the reset of 1st half, but can't do anything and almost concede a 2nd one.
2nd half Lyon gets a penalty but mats saves it, then we equalize short after.
They park the bus with 11 in the box for the rest of the game, and Messi rescues us by scoring a last minute free kick.
We proceed to the QF's, Mods change Retardo name back to Ernesto.

I am getting more and more nervous about this game, thanks to what happened in the last two days.

I think the key is that we need to score early and try to score a second goal as soon as possible because I am sure we will concede one goal. If the first half ends nil nil it would be very bad for us.

I hope Messi will give his best, so do the other players and DEFEND LIKE CRAZY.

I do not want 100%, i want 200% they have to finish the match bleeding and with their tongue touching the ground.
Messi must be on fire, in these kind of matches he must make the difference

Yeah, put their money where their mouth is and show us they really want to win another Champions League trophy.

I'm not worried. Can't wait for the game. Full Camp Nou, us fielding our best team, properly rested. Great things will happen. Lyon better start praying.

I am a bit nervous and think Lyon will put up a good fight. But this is Camp Nou. The biggest fortress in Europe, every opponent fears this stadium unlike Bernabeu or Parc des Princes where you know anything can happen on a special night. We got this.

As captain Messi needs to set an example against Lyon. He needs to run, defend, create space and to push forward. I don't care if he scores or not. What matters to me is that he shows hunger and desire to win the Champions League.
