Result was really to be expected, playing away and very tired after the Italy game.

Disappointed in Mata and Torres, the midfield was given nothing to pass to apart from Pedro who was fantastic.

Look at Nigeria , Italia & tonight game.. Spain wasn't threat that much ever before... number of shots against , lower possession against Nigeria & Italy... tonight Brazil was walking all over them
Strong team Uruguay ? when was the last time you actually watched Uruguay ? they are struggling and could miss the next world cup
Xabi gives them balance and allow them to be in control ..
Spain worst 3 games is enough proof

Spain aren't in as much control without the double pivot but I don't think it should be Xabi. He slows down the play a lot while someone like Martinez would be the preferred option in my opinion.

Those Brazilian fools! Don't they realize that was the spanish plan all along? Now spain has ditched the confed cup curse and brazil is doomed for 2014...

Being hosts Brazil has a very strong advantage. With that spirit they'll go far next year too. Normally hosts with decent teams go far and even win. Look at Uruguay 1930, Italy 1934, Germany 1974, England 1966, Argentina 1978, France 1998.

I'm actually with Beast on that one and I doubt that Martinez would offer the balance in midfield that Xabi offers because he is too similar to Busi in his playing ways. Alonso can spray passes and disperse of any attack in midfield.

Spain played well without him against easy opposition who did not have a game plan but you cannot expect them to change their style so quickly and so efficiently after years and years with the double pivot that has proven to be successful.

Pedro was no more awful than either of Torres, Mata or Navas, or most of his other teammates, for that matter. Unfair to say he was awful without mentioning that his entire team played probably their worst game since any of them has been in the NT. Spain haven't lost 3-0 since before most of these players were born.

Uruguay is not easy opposition...

I wonder if they'll give Alonso any crap when they get home and what he'll tell them...

^Torres and Mata didn't miss what should have been an equalizer though...
